Vindictus

This game has an amazing combat system and really fleshed out classes. Too bad they only seem to want to focus on gooner bait instead of improving upon the amazing combat system that blows other games like this out of the water.

I played this way back in the day, when there were only 3 characters. I mused long over which one sounded most interesting to me in the context of party play, and decided to go with Fiona, because she was meant to be able to tank attacks and cause a lot of stagger when played well with the hammer. It was fun. It was a bit slow, a slog to get through, but hitting level threshholds that have new gear I could craft, as a selffound style enjoyer, was satisfying. Boss fights were engaging, some were a little hard while learning when to block/attack and the like. When Karok was released, I got my friend into it, and we both rolled a Karok. It was an immense joy of being able to pick up lesser enemies, grapple the worms and pull them out of the ground, or tear wisps apart, throwing the battle pillar around like it weighed nothing, and shoulder tackle charging through crowds for pitiful but highly entertaining damage, staggering bosses and then doing a grapple and punching the living daylights out of them, and so on. This is no longer a game but an extended demo for the rerelease of the title. Vindictus was released more than 10 years ago. When it came out it was basically one fo the best fighting MMORPG's ever made... the only major issue it had was it gawd aweful lagg. If they had focused fixed that sigular issue they could have gone global easily, contended with many other titles and maybe even changed the face of gaming. Yes there where otehr issues. Like the city hub, the constant need to replay from the very beginning everytime you made a new character, and the ABUNDENT dialog. but all of those could of been navigated through quickly enough after your first play through. The Lagg needed to be addessed first... but was never really handled. After that the constant gameplay adjustments and rebalanceing of characters to try to focus on Pvp made thing difficult at times. They also made it rather apparent they where more concerned with popular combat trends and flashy combat instead of the complexity of combat.
