In VCB you will set your own goals of what and how you want to build, it does not come with tutorials, levels, or challenges, and it will not teach you digital logic or assembly. I bought this assuming it was educational. It is not. It doesn't attempt any education other than how to use the user interface and software. ChatGPT says this game is not intended to be educational, but merely for those who already have good grasp on electronics and assembly programming. idk wtf is happening but it seems like a good game
94 hours and a lot of crying later, i managed to make a 16bit cpu with this game! very very good game, there are a few "bad" things, like the way sequential circuits behave(although that's the case for pretty much every logic simulator really) and the kind of convoluted way that VMEM address bits work(and not being to use the first address of VMEM), but overall those are all very small things and nuisances at best that you can pretty easily work your way around, as the game page itself says, this is a simulator engine and nothing more, the only few tutorials in the game are purely for explaining how the game systems work(like what inks are, write and read inks, VMEM, assembly, etc), but it doesn't bother with actually trying to teach you how to actually make logical circuits, you're going to have to search for other resources for that, if anything, you COULD use the engine as a simulator for actually doing things while studying digital logic, i myself did this(less than a week ago i had no idea of what a full adder even was, and by the end of today i have finished a 16 bit cpu), so yeah, if you're curious about digital logic and want a simulator to actually get stuff done, this is …
As someone who has created circuits and schematics in a educational and professional setting i find the logic behing this game to be wonky asf. its nothing like actual designing (which is much easier) and it makes the simpelest of circuits unneccicaraly complicated. i find it funny that in the games inital blueprint, the counter, we can see what should be a 4 bit counter that feeds a bcd converter circuit that goes to a 7 seg but because of the tick/ processing speeds of the items in the game it causes a glitch where between 3 (0011) and 4 (0100) the first two bits flicker. Very simple circuits dont work . its a impressive game and it would be so much better if it were more realistic / wasnt unneccicaraly hard
