Virus Blast

Virus Blast is a somewhat unusual, mobile app-like "puzzle" game where you mouseaim at various blocks then fling yourself at them (sticking to them if you hit, falling if you miss). The objective is to climb higher and higher to kill the viruses infecting your computer, I guess. The movement is done through what basically amounts to a 3D version of the Angry Birds catapult fling, and if you're thinking, "Hey, Angry Birds is a mobile app, but I'm here on Steam, which is for PC games!" then you're starting to see what the problem here is. The game does work and it's not an asset flip, but apart from the long list of technical shortcomings, which I'll get into, the game just isn't any fun. You don't even get to knock down houses full of green pigs. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy minimalist/untextured low-polygon "retro" assets and visuals, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. So addicting! Literally had me glued to my screen for 2 hours straight, would love to see a "no upgrade run" highscore table in the future! keep up the good work!

Единственный небольшой минус – иногда кажется, что генератор случайных чисел не совсем "случаен", но это, скорее, придирка. В целом, "Virus Blast" – отличная игра, которая сочетает в себе простоту и увлекательность, что делает её превосходным вариантом для мобильного гейминга. Рекомендую всем любителям головоломок!

TL;DR Despite the negative points below, I was going to give it a positive review until I remembered that the progression is broken. --- This game is a troll, but I don't want to pile on too much because for a 'my first game' it's actually original and mostly does what it sets out to do. But it is a troll. It took me 17 minutes to get through the tutorial. There was no need for the game to start out that hard. I've played other parkour climbing games before that allowed you to learn the mechanics by providing safe spaces for you to fall down on without having to restart from the beginning over and over again. Some slightly larger platforms here and there would have provided at least a chance you may have landed on one. It is a troll because the tutorial gives you a double jump part way through, but then makes you unlock it again in the main game. There is no need for this other than to artificially extend playtime. The tutorial also just doesn't really do a very good job of giving you a taste of the main game. And then there is the actual game. It's possible to get a bad launch and fail immediately.
