[h1] Game take some inspiration from Bubble Bobble but controls are much worse. Lets start with movement, it's like pushing boulder with acceleration where it become hard to maneuver. Weird decision choice - touching anything above, force character to descend so it must touch ground and jump again to fly otherwise player can fly freely. Level design is bad. Music seems to be ok. Overall play Bubble Bobble instead. [/h1]

Virus Crashers is a loose ripoff of Bubble Bobble (copyright Taito, 1986) featuring the core mechanic of capturing your enemies in a bubble, although there's a couple of different combat mechanics. While the game "works", it's clunky as all hell, with a Windows 95 tier configuration dialogue that really lacks meaningful options, and controller mapping that seems to be designed for console peasants... I just checked, and yep, I'm using a PC, not a console. It's really let down by a crappy technical execution that makes this play worse than playing Bubble Bobble in an emulator, and that goes back to one of the old rules in game development... if you rip off other people's games, you have to do [i]better[/i] than the originals, not [i]worse[/i]. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Balloon fight with bugs and fairies. It's awesome. If only there were a way to continue from the last stage played.

It is a straightforward and enjoyable experience reminiscent of the games found on consoles from early 1980s Japan. Players assume the role of a fairy-like character, gliding through the air akin to the gameplay in Joust, shooting at various creatures that become ensnared in bubbles. Once these creatures are trapped, players can collect them.

The control has a few flaws, but it is simple, fun and challenging.
