VocabVan

"VocabVan" is a really lazy cash grab, really. The developer partially made this "educational quiz" game (that might have just been a web page, it's got a garbage implementation) with ChatGPT... I mean you have to laugh when language education software is just done by asking ChatGPT or Google Translate or whatever. The developer didn't even know what text he was including (must have stolen it from somewhere?) so tried to use ChatGPT to "sanitize" it. If that's not enough to warn you about the godawful quality of this "barely a game" software, I don't know what is. Was the "developer" not aware you can just do Duolingo if you want to learn another language? It's not even free, you have to pay an eye watering $20 USD for each language, so far there's an eye-watering ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY UNITED STATES DOLLARS that the "developer" of this ChatGPT nightmare is trying to extort from gamers for his "I can't believe it's not HTML" language train wreck. Yeah, it's even more expensive than Rosetta Stone. One hundred and twenty bucks [i]so far[/i]. Jesus wept.

Having spent some hours with the Italian version of VocabVan I can say that it is a useful tool. It is one that has helped me certainly and I will continue to use it. It is not perfect for sure, the chief issue being that all of the content is AI driven and thus prone to errors, BUT it does provide a stimulating and quite original way to engagewith/practice core words. You are presented with vocabulary which you learn as you would with any card based learning, but then the same words are used in sentences for you to practice. These sentences are not always perfect and neither are the words, but I have enjoyed my time with it even though I have had to check the odd word in a dictionary. On the plus side, the interface is easy to navigate, the statistics are clear and there is a lot of content. In short if you are looking for another learning tool to add into your rotation I have found it is worth the money I paid and will probably use the French version too.

This application is great for practicing a language, I'm using it for spanish, not all of the translations are correct, but this is a great tool for building your vocabulary and helping you gain more confidence in speaking the language. This still needs work and I hope the developer will improve the translations and continue to build the application.

Duolingo doesn't offer Tagalog, so this is okay. It has a free set of sentences for you to try before deciding to buy the bigger language pack.
