About Void Scout

What if there was an interdimensional war being waged over the very fabric of reality? One where humanity is merely a pawn and an unwitting victim, awaiting absorption by malevolent Exoforms seeking to consume every dimension of the infinite multiverse? What if you were the only one who could stop it?
Void Scout is a tense tactical roguelike full of decisions to make, strategies to test, and sci-fi horrors to face in turn-based combat set on procedurally generated space stations where everything is out to kill you. Do you have what it takes to save reality and stand tall against the horrors of the multiverse?
 • Streamlined Tactical Gameplay: Void Scout is built around making decisions based on the situation you encounter. What will win a fight is a cool head and superior tactics, not micro-managing or min-maxing. These can give you an edge, but will never carry the day.
 • High-Stakes Combat: Vision is limited, weapons powerful, and enemies hard-hitting. Every mission can be your last one - or of the variant life you're running. You never know what's lurking behind the next corner or bulkhead. It might be an opportunity - or a death sentence.
 • Dynamic Tension Level: A Director-style system controls the tension level, changing ambiance, introducing dynamic events, and bolstering the enemy presence. Go in fast and hard or slow and cautious - react to the changing circumstances and see the game react to your decisions.
 • Deep Procedural Generation: Every mission is more than just a randomly generated map peppered with enemies. Expect different challenges, different tension changes, and different opportunities. The same applies to replaying missions: What was familiar and straightforward might be anything but!
 • Persistent Progression: The life of a Void Scout is challenging and can end at a moment's notice. But your ability constantly grows with new weapons, upgrades, and equipment. Constantly discover new ways to survive and overcome - and crush enemies that once made you retreat!
 • In and Out in 15 Minutes: Every mission matters. Get in, complete your objectives, get out and make meaningful progress without having to grind your life away. Void Scout is about making decisions, not spending endless amounts of time to unlock the next incremental upgrade.

✦ AI summary

Void Scout impresses players with its atmospheric presentation, strategic turn-based combat system built around tactical positioning and pattern recognition, and satisfying weapon and nanotech combinations that encourage experimentation. However, complaints center on inconsistent difficulty spikes that can feel unfair rather than challenging, poor font readability for story text, and some players finding the game becomes repetitive or frustrating when facing rooms full of ranged enemies without adequate preparation or build options.

Brilliant presentation with a unique design and feel for a Rogue-like. The combat in Void Scout feels a lot like a game of chess. The attacks are in patterns—think of how a knight moves—and the gameplay largely revolves around positioning oneself so that the pattern of one’s attacks are most advantageous to themselves, and the pattern of their enemies’ attacks are least advantageous to them. To aid one in their quest there are two weapons slots and three nanotech augmentation slots. Some nanotech is active, like an attack yielding grenades, and some nanotech is passive, such as a ”stealth” mode that decreases enemy count. The combination of one’s weapons, nanotech, and tactics is what makes Void Scout what it is. When encountering new threats, one is not always sure what combination will fit the bill: some experimentation may be required! The simplicity of Void Scout is a boon rather than a bane. It is straightforward and unpretentious. While it is a Rogue-like, and can be tough as nails, the graphics, sound, and narrative elements set it apart from its peers. It’s worth checking out!

Easy to pick up, but it does keep your attention, and even on casual difficulty the boss fights still present quite a challenge. The switch between free movement and turn-based combat gets surprisingly smooth after a while.

An atmospheric, engaging and immersive turn based game.

Tense and quite challenging from the outset. The dark techno music is great and really amps up the intensity of the fights! (Which I keep running away from!)

I enjoyed the first level. The second level persisted in "Here's a room with a dozen ranged buggers. Good luck" Six deaths later, I am forced to uninstall.

Not liking this game. Lots of reading and its in bad font - got bored and went skip skip skip... sfx and music muted because when you walk you can hear robots humping each other. gameplay was ok. fights ranged from bs to easy sweep. Really liked bonuses that can combine with each other and thats it - good for doing something while listening to podcast
