About VR Curling
Game Features:
Locomotion Movement:
Note: This game uses locomotion for player movement (no teleportation). This is by necessity, but it also contributes to the realism of the game. To move around, use the trackpad/joystick (up is forward, down is backward, etc.) You can go 1.5x faster by holding down the trigger button while moving.
Throwing:
The stone speed (weight) is determined by how fast you are moving when you release the stone, as well as what you do with your hands (you can give it an extra shove if you feel like it at the point of release). You also determine the amount of spin on the stone at the time of release, just like in real life! Simply give the stone twist as you release it. The amount that the stone curls is based on both the realtime linear and angular velocities of the stone.
Sweeping:
Yes, you actually get to sweep in this game as well! Influence the speed of the stone (and thus the amount of curl as well) by sweeping in front of the stone while it is moving. For those who are new to curling, sweeping in front of the stone makes it go faster and want to curl less. You can even turn on sweeping particles to help visualize the effects of sweeping. Red particles indicate a significant effect from sweeping, green particles indicate a moderate effect, and blue particles indicate a minor effect.
Unlockables:
Use rewards to unlock various stones, brooms, and even new ice surfaces!
Game Modes:
Throwing Challenges:
Throw the stones in these various challenges to hone your skills and earn rewards. There are no brooms in this mode, so be careful of how hard you throw the stone.
Sweeping Challenges:
In this challenge mode you sweep the stone into the designated areas. The stone will be thrown automatically, so your focus here is on controlling the speed/curl of the stone.
Play Against CPU:
Take on the CPU and earn rewards! There are two difficulty levels to choose from.
Local Multiplayer:
Play head-to-head with a friend using the same headset. Earn rewards for each game completed.
Online Multiplayer:
Connect with other online players for some added fun. There are no set rules in this mode, so you can play however you like!

This game is fantastic! I live in rural Australia where the closest thing to ice is the occasional frost on the grass during winter. BUT... I love Curling and regularly watch it on YouTube. The mechanics feel right, the graphics and audio are great, the movement of the stones is perfect, and the game has a nice little stadium crowd environment as well. When I saw that sweeping was available, I thought it would be gimmicky but it totally feels legit. There's a great little lobby where you can pick your options, game-mode etc. There's a small curling model where you can see the house, hog line etc. (so cool) and the game also has practice missions so you can learn how to sweep and throw stones. The AI is great too. I'll probably never get to play Curling in real life so a MASSIVE thanks to the developer for creating such an amazing experience. The VR experience is incredibly immersive. I can totally recommend if you have any interest in Curling! Specs: Quest 2, PCVR with Air Link.3 found this helpful
I love to curl. I am TERRIBLE at it, and there is no ice close. This game scratches a very good itch! The weights feel great, and it is as rewarding and frustrating as hitting the button or flying through the back of the house. The game has fun challenges to teach you how to throw and sweep! For a game for $2.50, I've waaaaaay more than gotten my money's worth. I did get a little tired because the game requires you to be low to the ground (like real curling), but I was able to sit and throw just fine. If at first you don't get it, keep trying! Work on not only your forward speed, but what your distance to the hog line is when you release. :)2 found this helpful
Baught this game thinking it was gonna be clunky and not very good, but it was a very enjoyable game to play, and i will be playing more of it.2 found this helpful
This game has the most awful and counter-intuitive user interface and controller setup I've ever seen. It is unplayable for me and the tutorial is not helpful, you cannot ever try yourself during the tutorial, plus the description is not clear and confusing. I don't understand why developers do not adhere to best practise and standards how to move in VR and how to interact with the world. The game as such might be even fun if the developer re-works the controller usage appropriately but in the current stage I cannot recommend it. It is just frustrating. I played with an HP Reverb G2.1 found this helpful
this game is absolutly terrible. couldnt even throw the stone
Unfortunately I'm going to have to down vote this game. I really wanted to play the game but right when I load it up i get black lines all over the place and cant do anything without seeing them everywhere. Trying to play it on windows headset so I'm not sure if that's why. I had a similar bug one other time on richie's plank experience and was not able to fix it. Will have to refund if I can't find a solution.
