Wardwell House

i really really hate leaving negative reviews on indie games and fr i SEE the vision but it this really missed the mark ): though i really like the gameplay style, something about it gave me a headache by the time i'd reached chapter 3.... i was really trying to look around and take in the wilderness but it felt like a punishment heh the story was kiiindddd of interesting but i feel like it's better as an idea than in execution. like it ALMOST fit together nicely but idk some things just felt really out of place. or maybe its just that i'm not over bro getting lost at sea (cue to a sweet babbling brook we wash up on), and reckons the scary murder house with clear signs of recent activity is a totally safe spot to crash for the night. jumpscare at the end sucked and idk bro wearing the horses head n killing people is wack but i love wack so it gets a pass. good job dev!!!!!!

Interesting visuals. It kind of reminds me of an old flash game I played as a kid called Exmortis. But the story is told horribly, and doesn't even line up with what you're seeing. Apparently you've been lost at sea on a kayak for weeks, but the "ocean" you washed in from is clearly a creek. Somehow, the protagonist is able to tell what date it is from an antique windup clock. The house you explore is clearly not the one you saw from outside, and toward the end you're suddenly in another completely different house. The house has working electricity, freshly laundered clothes, and freshly killed corpses outside, but not only does the protagonist still think the place is abandoned, but that it's safe place to crash for a few days. References to the Salem witch trials keep getting thrown around, but no connection to them is made, unless "spooky things are happening" IS the connection. The narration is understandable, but still badly written. The "game" consists of clicking on arrows to move along a scripted path, with no choice as to where to go, puzzles to solve, or anything that would constitute as gameplay. Yeah, it's basically Google Street View: The Horror Experience, but I thought it created a really unsettling atmosphere, and, for a free game, it delivered on its premise pretty well.

This game was genuinely super suspenseful for me. PLEASE KEEP MAKING MOOOOREEE!!!
