About Way To Yaatra
Way to Yaatra tells the tale of a young pilgrim who has received the call from the Gods, and answering their call he’ll embark on a journey across the altars searching for an ascension to divinity and his own completion. During the journey the player will face intricate puzzles and zones which require the highest of abilities.
The journey will have the pilgrim climb mount Itkinkalla, a sacred and hostile place for anyone willing to learn the truth that ravages those lands, where all the gods live as one. Way to Yaatra is an experience designed for a single player based on platforming with an elegant artistic style that will defy and charm even the most demanding players.
Designed by students of U-TAD university as a Final Degree Project, the Way to Yaatra development team is proud to present to you a game created with passion that we hope you like as much as we do.
• Aim, throw and climb! The player counts with various spears, tools that will help him climb and face the dangers that lurk in the mountain.
• An artistic style the likes of which you’ve never experienced / you’ve never seen
• Up to four different types of spears that will change your way of playing
• Challenging “Shadow” levels that will test your reflexes

"Way To Yaatra" is a somewhat simple but genuinely made 2D retro platformer. It's light on graphics options but at least the developers didn't go the lazy way and fill this full of pixelcrap "art" or "borrowed" Unity 2D tilesets... bespoke art is charming, even if it's not going to win any awards. Being free helps. The platforming here is a bit of a letdown, it's kind of a casual, linear platformer that has you overcome a series of obstacles and climb a mountain as you deal with the aftermath of the destruction of your village. Decent voice acting too, which is a pleasant surprise. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. gud game
Fun that's at times frustrating (in a good way, like platformers tend to be). For something with so little inter-character interaction, Way To Yaatra has surprisingly evocative worldbuilding and narrative.
