It looks fantastic and I love the textile theme, but the gameplay is beyond frustrating and it's just not fun to play. They expect you to "weave" accurately using the character's tail but there's no visual marker to show where the tail is aiming. You're supposed to explore to gather currency and collectibles but there's no map system to track where you are or what you've collected. The 2nd boss is trial and error and there's no real skill involved, so you have to keep repeating it until you get lucky. Outside of boss fights you're bombarded with small enemies that dodge before you can tie them down. It would have worked better as a puzzle game without any combat. Don't recommend unless it's in a bundle or 90% off.1 found this helpful
it's fun for a bit, the idea of weaving and unweaving parts of the world is quite fresh1 found this helpful
a really cool concept and beautiful world, let down by awkward controls, repetitive fights, and total lack of guidance from the game about where to go. i really wanted to like this game, but i found myself dreading combat, which is unfortunately a large part of how you make progress.
Despite how beautiful this game is, from graphics to character design, I'm immensely disappointed. The controls work most of the time, but when they don't it ruins the experience you're having. The difficulty between the puzzles and boss fights is disproportionate. The story is mid, and has no opening to give intrigue, and the ending is unsatisfying. Chapter 4 is the main reason for the negative review, it simply was not made well. From weaving randomly not working, navigating an area that can kill you in mere seconds by being bounced against thorns just because of being a pixel off, and don't get me started on the rapid damage buildup in the void zones that makes navigation worse. It's short length does not excuse the frustration. The game is beautiful, but it simply isn't worth playing, which is a damn shame.
I just barely recommend. There is a lot of frustration in gameplay with this one and ultimately a lot of loose ends in the story are unresolved. I did enjoy the world building and a fair number of the puzzles.
i really enjoyed the world and the story, and the game mechanics.
