WellBound

WellBound is a small survival game that drops me into a dark world after I fall down a well. I have to explore the area, collect materials, find food and work out how to complete three rituals so I can escape. I like the idea because the game starts out feeling fairly harmless, with me wandering around and gathering things, but there is something clearly wrong with the world. The creatures start acting differently as I make progress, and eventually I have to worry about them actively hunting me. The exploration and gathering are the parts I enjoy most. The world is procedurally generated, so the exact layout changes between runs, and there are three different biomes with their own materials and items. I can find food that restores health and hunger while also giving me different buffs, and I can combine materials together to craft things that help me survive. I like having to look around and decide what is worth picking up because I never know exactly what I am going to need later. It gives the early part of a run a nice feeling of slowly preparing myself for something worse. The crafting is simple, but there are some useful ideas behind it.
