[i] My Experience [/i] Wetware made an interesting first impression. I liked the environmental design of the lab, and the character designs of my co-workers. However, actually playing the game was not so exciting. Each day, you can go and "hack" the enemy drone, which is represented by playing a brief game of Breakout. You'll unlock a file by doing so, which will hopefully be helpful in the ongoing war effort. After you've gotten this file, you can either wander around and read random files from the archives, or you can try and undermine the operation. At the end of each day, you'll have a conversation with your boss. The game leans hard in the direction that hacking this enemy drone is unethical, as your sibling sends you e-mail after e-mail chastising you for your involvement in the project. One of your co-workers shares this view, personifying the drone (and it's actions) and even giving it a human-sounding nickname. "Wetware" is an incomplete and apparently abandoned game... this is only one out of 4 intended chapters and the developer hasn't looked at this for about 2 years, so we can just relegate this to the pile of abandonware polluting Steam. It's weird it's not in Early Access where it belongs, given the developer openly admits on the store page that it's incomplete. Anyway, it's an adventure game that explores ethics and AI, which are two things I'm not really that excited to combine when I'm just trying to play a video game. This has some really mediocre looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarly visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. The core idea may be interesting, but the game is unplayable. It is crashing, I don't really know what to do, and I can use my VR ready laptop instead of radiator. The only positive is that it is for free. It is good as a school project.
