[h3]Trigger warning Klaxon[/h3] Some pretty deep topic material, lots of girls, lots of boys and a love of rock music and the dark. 3 festival goers who are not that young anymore are trying hard to forget, to forget how their band broke up. Their drummer has died. Locke, your character blames himself; Killian wants to disassociate; while Rullo is having his own crisis. But Mateo, well Mateo the drummer comes along anyway, in spirit. Making it all the more difficult because everyone has skeletons aplenty anyway. The girls, Remmy, Iro, Rakel, Tuuli and more are a window into the boys past, a past they are needing to reclaim after loosing a friend. And Locke is into girls, literally. But that is his distraction and his poison. For the other young men, it's alcohol. All rendered in simple cardboard cutouts, it's a choices matter game where the stakes are still very high, even if the drummer has already cashed out. this is such an underrated emotional coaster I could literally cry... IT'S PEAK PEAKKKKK JUST PEAK!!! I didn't expect this free game to have such a well written plot, and it amazes me by how many choices you could make to influence the story. yes, it's also quite an angst when you reach the bad endings. I just wished that there were achievements so I'd have a clue on how many endings are present in the game. I actually messed up so bad in my first playthrough, haha (lost the band, lost the girl I was trying to get with, lost EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING). Well, I know there are much more to the game that it seems and YOU are the one who decides the outcome of the story. I highly recommend this game to anyone who stumbled upon this, no regrets on playing it plusss it's free. This game deserves the attention and love cause omgg, this was a masterpiece in its own way ;( ALSOOOOO I deeply love the music choice in the game, the bgm is so calming and soothing that it enhances the plot even better. "Where the Music Dies" isn't a game, it's a cringey non-game high school anime club dropout fan-fiction that's been dumped on Steam into the games section. As a visual novel, it doesn't have any gameplay. It's just a lot of clicking through bad, cringe dialogue that no real publisher would ever accept. When people can't get their work published in print, they pay the $100 fee to dump their fan-fiction here instead, where we have to put up with it when looking for things that are actual PC games. This e-book thankfully eschews the usual subject of most non-game Steam e-books (being a high school anime club fan-fiction about the author and his imaginary girlfriend) and instead we have an attempt at grief counselling or something where you talk to a number of characters who are probably just the authors imaginary girlfriends. i cant believe this is free, the story just blew me away and i was just so glued to everything. Just a great philosophical dillemia of an plot to tackle and explore. I truly cherish the time playing this masterpiece, and the wisdom that i gained from it, as someone which lost someone close in my life at a young age.
