I think the developer was trying to recreate Vampire Survivors if it existed on the Atari 2600 complete with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Also, I'm tired of these old-heads saying it's challenging, but it's fair. I'm most likely older than you, and it's just bunk. Games weren't impossible to play. Yeah, I get the whole quarter munching thing, but retro games were fun. I found the menus of this clone recreated for the 1970's unsettling and convoluted. I mean, I understand new developers are trying their hardest to compete with triple A titles, but come on. I played 5 times and lasted 5 seconds each time. After every try, I had to wait for the game to reload, and the wait time is way too long. Issues could be fixed, but let's see.

The pixel art may look simple, but don't let that fool you - it is very challenging !! There is a difficulty setting, but I did have to reduce it, which hurt a little because I don't usually ever do that. It took me a few retries and a little under an hour to complete to first stage and boss. The challenge isn't too much, considering this is a retro-inspired game. It did take a few tries to figure out what exactly do to each stage, you have your health (which you can lose very quickly), but also your mana you must manage to not run out too quick. Your mana lets you move quicker, which is helpful when you have a bunch of projectiles coming toward you. Pressing B (controller) lets you choose the closest enemy to focus your attack on. As you complete the substages, you get skill points to invest in a few skills. Luckily, you can refund your last spent skill point which lets you try different things if you are struggling. Along with each substage, you get a part of the store that the game is based around. Overall its a nice retro style game with pixel art graphics and old school game sounds. If you're up for a challenge, it is definitely worth playing.
