Yap Wizards Tower Defence

Short and sweet. It's a really fun take on a Tower Defense game. I'd love to see a (paid) sequel that expands on the concept.

Yap Wizards Tower Defence is one of those games that immediately made me smile because it treats tower defence like a silly fantasy comedy. I am protecting a dirt path from hordes of enemies with the help of increasingly ridiculous wizards, and the game clearly does not take itself too seriously. I liked that personality because it makes the familiar strategy formula feel more playful. The basic tower defence gameplay is straightforward. I place defensive units, survive enemy waves and gradually expand the battlefield after each wave. I enjoyed having to think about where to put my defences because the map does not stay exactly the same size forever. As the battlefield opens up, I have to rethink where my towers are most useful instead of sticking with one setup. The wizards are also a major part of the fun. They constantly yap about what is happening, and the ridiculous dialogue gives the otherwise standard tower defence structure a lot more character. I liked the contrast between trying to carefully defend my position while these completely unserious characters are talking over everything. Short, nice, funny. The towers could use some balancing since many of them are not good. But the endgame towers are really fun. Towers can't be picked up once placed so that's another feature which would be nice to have. But can't complain too much since it's free and actually pretty fun. 20 minutes well spent.

This was awesome fun little indie gem!

Short game but with a fairly innovative concept to keep the TD genre fresh. Plus you get to kill gnoblins (inherently evil).

If you like tower defense games and have 20 minutes to kill, give this a spin- neat plus wonderful laugh at the end. Only disappointing part is that that 20 minutes *is the entire game* and I could go a few more rounds with this one.
