I have played these Kinds of games alot over the years . Flat screen and VR. And I rate these Zona projects higher than things like into the radious and stalker and a few others. This one has a dark spooky feel to it. the weapons and enemies and exploration is all well balanced. really immersive. On a side note , This game is far far better than into the radious 2. itr1 was good , but ITR2 sux donkey donuts . I would go for this anyday. but it is PCVR so if you have to play stand alone get into the radious part 1. stilll really solid.

ONLY BUY ON A SALE, I was happying paying $8 for it, not sure if I would be happy above that. This game is janky and B-grade as heck. B-grade is probably being generous. Voice acting sucks ass, I assume it is AI (but hey! at least it has some!). But the AI voice acting which has zero appropriate emotional inflection, combined with the incomprehensible dialogue will leave your head spinning at exactly what is even happening at any given moment in the plot. Levels are tiny, AI kind of stupid, animations primative to the point of making you laugh. BUT, I have had plenty of fun running around shooting stuff. Despite how utterly crap this game is, I am enjoying it, even bought the next one!

Prime example for mixed review, however in my opinion more leaning towards negative. Very janky, especially controls, very simple AI and gunplay. Not terrible for first VR experience by solodev, however 20€ asking price is way too much for what this is. Play Into the Radius 1/2 or Convrgence instead, better games both.

If you liked Into the Radius (1), with all it's flaws, you'll likely have fun with this. This game is first, so it can be a little rough around the edges, but it is still fun. The voice acting was terrible, though I think the dev may have updated it, as I noticed an improvement when starting over a few months later to knock out the last achievements. The weapons need some balancing (last I played). The sequel Z.O.N.A. Origin is much more polished and balanced by a lot, a better entry point if you're spoiled in VR. Yet if you want to play from the beginning, and don't mind a little less polish, I'd still recommend. I had a lot of fun at the part where they hint you should take a machine gun (Think M60), but I was cocky and just took an smg, AK and pistol. So many mutants... Several emergency reloads later, including some "American reloads" (including from one rifle I had just looted), I made it. I felt so bad ass afterward. The dev is pretty helpful too, worth supporting.

Buy Z.O.N.A. Origin instead, this just plays like a worse/smaller version of Origin

These games are extremely unpolished and below a quality standard that most developers would be comfortable releasing. The undertaking must have been immense for the developer, however the end result should not be offered for sale. This is a learning project by the developer, and hopefully some day they will find their true place in game development. I would also like to add, despite similarities, this is not S.T.A.L.K.E.R VR, so if you expected anything other than the aesthetic and lore of that series, you may disappointed by this emulation. I'm not able to review the second game, so I will leave this here: Z.O.N.A Origin: This game is a scam. It is almost a reprogramming of the first game, and actually reuses the tutorial with the same terrible AI and identical dialogue. I am all for indie developers, and I understand the task the developer underwent, but the best things in life are free, and I feel the quality of this game is below monetary value. I hate leaving a bad review, for I support Ukraine and it's diaspora, but I caution VR players to avoid this game.
