The story is quite a mess that's written quite poorly (feels like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. written by an 8th grader) with voice actors seemingly sounding either bored of the script, uncaring or completely overenthusiastic for the job the whole time, who keep going from Russian accents to English to American, in short, inconsistent (the ending is genuinely awful to sit through as well.) The gameplay is alright, the missions are mostly fetch quests and get redundant pretty fast, gunplay and customizations are pretty good, what the game excels at the most though is the atmosphere and setting, the massive Pechorsk Anomaly orb in the sky is genuinely captivating, and the way it makes nighttime indistinguishable from the day the closer you get to it is fantastic. There were quite a few times where I was genuinely creeped out/unnerved with the situations I got myself in and the sights I was beholding in the game. I wish they'd tidy up the other aspects within so that immersion wouldn't immediately break that the atmosphere puts up so well. It's like I'm fully immersed, I'm ready for the game, and then some goofy voice line that doesn't fit at all makes me burst out laughing and I'm completely out o…1 found this helpful
This game brings me back to the old glory days of gaming in the 90s. Not because of the graphics or the simplicity, but how the story is handled and how little the game holds your hand. Truly a masterpiece of immersion. Even the inventory management felt in place as opposed to games like Fallout 4 VR where it just pisses you off with unnecessary tasks. Into the radius is scary at times, definitely repetitive but never boring. Best VR game for me - now let's try the 2nd installment. Hopefully, it won't disappoint.1 found this helpful
8/10
A fantastically atmospheric experience dripping with misery and mystery.
Every enemy is killable, the missions not to difficult, but the gun play is fiddly when in a difficult situation
Honestly one of the best games I've ever played it is easily in my top five of all time.
