IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE GREATEST GAME OF 1989
ZADETTE is a collection of the best and worst of everything that made the great arcade games of the late 80's.
- A muscular hero in his underwear who slices his big sword at every enemy that stands in his way.
- Sprites with extraordinary dimensions for an extraordinary game. Because everyone knows that the best games are the games with the biggest sprites.
- Incredible chiptune music taking 200% advantage of the Genesis Yamaha YM2612 chip for total immersion in the early 16-bit arcade era.
A RICH ADVENTURE WITH UNIQUE LEVELS AND BOSSES
We've made such a big effort to bring everything that makes great games into ZADETTE, so you can live a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Go through 7 epic levels as memorable and colorful as they are difficult and challenging.
- From poisonous snakes to cart snakes through dodging snakes, a wide variety of obstacles will cross your path.
- Face off against 7 breathtaking bosses, all more original than anything you've ever seen.
- Never in a game spikes have been so sharp and calibrated. Be cautious where you land your heel.

Just earned my greatest player diploma. The ugly visuals aside, the actual game is really good. It's a very difficult, but fair game. Thankfully the game has unlimited continues and checkpoints in the beginning of each stage/boss fight.4 found this helpful

ZADETTE is a parody kind of game, which reminds me a bit of Divekick, though the latter is a VS fighting game, not a platformer. I think ZADETTE is making fun of some older games which were trying hard to make a point of displaying the biggest sprites that the hardware allowed to back then ... but at the same time, forgot about the gameplay, and played like crap, and/or were stupidly difficult. So ZADETTE goes even further: the character is comically huge/tall - he probably thinks he is badass but looks kinda stupid. He moves painfully slow, looks stuck up and his cry is ridiculous. The music sounds dramatic in a ridiculous kind of way. Animations are comically bad as well. The nice surprise is that what looks like a stupid game with crap physics, is actually a well-crafted platforming game. The game is all about timing, hitbox management (hitboxes are fair) and minimalistic but clever level design. Animations are deliberately cheap, but readability is good. The gameplay is actually tight. It is a moderately difficult game, however there is a checkpoint at the beginning of every levels and those are relatively short, so it's not frustrating. tl;dr: a fun take of platforming, not…
I kinda love this game. The music also makes my ears bleed, but it's the good kind of ear bleeding!
"ZADETTE" seems like a coarse and derpy 2D action-jump-and-slash at first, but behind the hilarious premise (your character is huge, unwieldy and dies in one hit) and the lax but charming spritework lies a fairly competent precision-platformer, that is tough but manageable. Kept grinning and cursing through the whole experience and definetly could recommend it for every fan of the genre that likes it raw!
Secret final boss really packs a punch though
Nice big sprites and good action
