About Zipp's Café

Zipp's Café is a bite-sized cafe management sim with a noir-like story and cozy atmosphere.

Can you really change? Can you escape your past? Can you find love? Can you handle betrayal? But most importantly... can you make the best coffee in all the Wilderness?
  • Zipp's Café is a bittersweet little story of what we have to sacrifice to make a real difference in our lives while meeting extraordinary characters and preparing unusual recipes at the boiling edge of the cities of insects and animals.
  • Meet 5 strange characters and discover what connects them. Talk to them, and - whether you like it or not - get caught up in their lives. Immerse yourself into 3 minigames with completely different moods and mechanics. Brew the most special coffees or teas, prepare unique meals, and... wash the dishes... (Because someone has to do the dishes too, you know.)
  • Play in color, or in glorious NOIR mode!

✦ AI summary

Zipp's Cafe is a short, cozy café simulator set in the Chicken Police universe that offers relaxing gameplay with noir-tinged storytelling and worldbuilding. Players who are invested in the Clawville lore find it engaging and appreciate the expansion of the supporting cast, though those unfamiliar with the franchise may find it less compelling. Common criticisms include its brevity, the writing or translation quality, and the desire for a casual sandbox mode separate from the story structure.

Today I felt like playing one of the Z titles hanging out at the bottom of ye olde Steam list. Zipp's Cafe gave me the ol' noir routine. "Psst! Hey, toots! Take a gander over in my neck o' the woods if you catch my drift!" So I stopped in for a bit. Apparently this is part of the Chicken Police universe. I don't think I realized that everything this developer does is to beef out Clawville and the world they are building within all these games. I personally think that's really cool but if you're not really into that type of thing, this might come across as flat and uninteresting. But I liked it well enough. Just a lightly noir, peek into a particular corner of the world. Personally, I didn't think it needed 2 full play throughs for 2 different endings. Could have easily been a checkpoint as it's linear and the choice to see the good or bad ending story is the first choice you make all game. Kudos for a skip dialogue function though so you can tell there was some thought into how to navigate that issue. I did appreciate a codex to read through when blue words showed up. Gave you even more insight to what the ♥♥♥♥ was going on and I like when you get separate lore sometimes like t…

I can't recommend this game. I am already forgetting what the story was about while writing this review. So I need to write this quick! -The final decision is extremely pointless and insulting to the player. The game asks you to make a choice, but one option feels completely idiotic. It feels like the game needed a "bad ending"(if it can be called that way) button and they added one. When playing, you understand that devs wanted you to NOT choose that option. If the player can tell what option devs want the player to choose, then that is an indication that developers failed in designing a great choice. -Other than the final disappointing choice, there is no player agency. Story is completely linear and no other choices exist. -Coffee/food minigames are repetitive and not enjoyable, and does not affect the game in any way. -My last point will be a bit silly, but still holds up: Main character feels like a bit of a snowflake IN THE CONTEXT of the protagonist's backstory lmao. It becomes awkward when he quotes his mother the 3rd time like he is Forrest Gump lol. He is essentially replacing box of chocolates references with coffee references. I was just watching The Sopranos ye…

Not quite the sum of its parts. I think it comes down to the writing. Or the translation?
