Die in the Dungeon

After wasting a good 50 hours of my life on this game, I can safely asses that I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate it and I hate myself for not spending that time in a more productive manner. This is not to say that the product has no redeeming qualities, because it has many, otherwise it would not make for such a tantalizing temptation. The problem lies in the fact that for as high as the highs of this game are, they are absolutely nothing in comparison to the unbelievably crushing lows that you will feel after losing a 2 hour run to an attack you had no physical ability to block and are left with nothing more than a feeling of emptiness. Obviously, when it comes to the genre of rougelikes, failure is expected, however, in very few games does failure entail so much time investment at the cost of nothing more than pure dumb luck. In other games, when I die and lose a run, I am able to trace that failure back to a bad decision or lack of skill. In this game, all I can do is just hope for better rng next time. There is an element of skill to rigging the rng in your favour, but at the end of the day, if the game doesn't want to give you the win, it won't, and that's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I am not done yet, in…

love the variety of playstyles, music, and art!

I loved following this game through itch,io and being around move to a steam release. Overall worth the wait.

I don't want to be too negative on Die in the Dungeon because despite its faults there is a unique and well designed game here and I have mostly enjoyed the time I've spent on it. I've sent my feedback to the devs so here's hoping they act on some of the games flaws. It's worth playing for the price and there's a hope that the game will get better with a few more updates to add balance, variety and UI readability.

Cute game, fun music. Blatant Slay the Spire clone, but it's still fun. Not nearly as deep or engaging, however.
