About Jenny the Witch

New York City. July 2063. Four workers have gone missing somewhere in the Brooklyn Understructure, a maze of sewage pipes and abandoned passageways deep below the city streets. Genevieve Marconi, a mercenary with a taste for high-risk jobs, is hired to uncover their whereabouts.

Killer Combat

As Genevieve, you'll have to fight your way through a horde of drones.  Shoot them with energy blasts or smash them to pieces with your broom.  Use volleys of missiles and powerful super moves to turn the tide of battle. This is a spectacle fighter / shooter hybrid. There's third-person shooting and a fast-paced melee system, plus some extra metered abilities that you can use for big momentum swings in fights.  Jenny's got a fairly complex combat toolset, and we hope you'll enjoy learning to master it.

Air Superiority

Use Jenny's broom to navigate the treacherous chambers of the Understructure.  The game has platforming. It's not too intense, but we wanted to put some in to show off the improvements we've made to our character movement (and also, who doesn't like airdashing over bottomless pits?)

Massive Payouts

Earn a high score by smashing drones with grace and swiftness.  You can spend cash earned during your mission on upgrades and new abilities.  Honestly, what else do you want to know? We've put a score system in all our games and this one's no exception. Do long combos to raise your score. Spend your score on new abilities (like special melee attacks, super moves, etc) so you can do sicker combos.  You'll also be able to replay the game with your unlocks intact after beating it once.

One Good Afternoon of Campaign for a Reasonable Cost

This game isn't gonna be expensive (we're thinking $7 USD on launch). It's gonna be a few hours long, and it should have significant replayability via its difficulty options, scoring system, etc. This is a short game. Please buy this if you like short games.

This is another game that makes me wish steam had a middle ground review option. Do I recommend this game? Well... maybe. It depends. Often when I feel middle on a game I can at least lean a little more towards recommend without too much reservation but this one I keep flip flopping every few words on if I should mark it as yes or no. This is one of those games that I picked up pretty quickly after release cause I was excited for it (and then let it sit in my library for a couple months cause I have no focus) and ultimately even though I bounced off the game fairly quickly I don't think I regret that purchase. I like the aesthetic, I like the world, I like a lot of the ideas the game is working with and the mechanics to it. There is some interesting level design here and there with some of the arena spaces you fight in having parts of the environment you can interact with for the fight. The special abilities are cool and the game does have good combo potential. Ultimately though the reason I bounced off after a little over an hour and a half is because while I can see the potential in the systems everything felt a little too clunky for my taste. The character feels too heavy for …

it's a good character action game! I kinda struggled with it becuase I don't usually... play this sorta game? like i feel like i'd have a better grasp on it if i had played like, bayonetta or devil may cry or even just megaman legends. but still: it was awesome. i love getting to be a cool robot witch girl. transgender jumping games forever!

I really want to love this game, but i just can’t. The game looks good and has a nice style, but playing it is just frustrating. Both aspects of the main gameplay loop, which is fighting and platforming have some interesting ideas, but booth suffer from major issues: The Platforming: First the platforming, as it also feeds into the problems with the combat. Platforming can only be described as infuriating. It’s not difficult per say, as falling at best puts you back to a checkpoint platform before and temporarily drains your shield or at worst forces you to redo parts of a completed section again. Don’t get me wrong, the platforming is doable and can be brute forced, but it feels very stiff and unresponsive. This is due to multiple issues: 1. No coyote time. The game doesn’t have any leniency with jumping off ledges. This results in the game regularly eating your inputs and instead of jumping you just walk of the edge like a lemming. 2. No/barely any air control. It is incredibly difficult to adjust yourself mid air which is made worse by: 2.1 Vertically (At least until the point where I stopped) you only get one jump that is not super high and very often the platforms are placed…

This feels like it would be a hidden gem for PS2 in the best way possible. In love with this game's visuals and combat. Absolutely recommend if you want to spend a good evening.

Easy Mode is not Easy. The enemy monsters have too much health and rooms turn into repetitive combat rooms with 3 to 4 waves of enemies that overwhelm with bullets and no good way to crowd clear if you get swamped in enemies. I might be close to the end but I do not feel like I'm getting stronger or the game play is getting more satisfying. This has everything good going for it, but Easy should mean Easy and not drown you in enemies you can't dispatch in a sensible fashion.

A hack and slash action game where you play a mercenary in a mech suit styled after a witch, hence the name of the game. This is a short experience, but contains no filler, and it flows effortlessly to the point where it's easy to finish in just one sitting. The enemy drones are varied, and its easy to tell them apart and prioritise targets in the heat of battle. The upgrades you can purchase are also sweet, with some devastating super moves that can turn the tide of a fight. Its also got a pumping soundtrack during action set pieces, but it also knows when to slow down during platforming challenges. It isn’t perfect, I feel like there is an input delay, especially with jumping and shooting, which I feel doesn’t quite fit a fast-paced action game, but the game is quite short, so that gripe doesn’t get the chance to build up into something more severe. All in all, I had a fun time with Jenny the Witch, and there is a plethora of additional challenges for after you beat the story, from combat challenges to plush hunting, so you can get even more out of it than I did. Lots of fun.
