- Rebindable keys: Nothing is worse than a control scheme that doesn’t work for you! Witch Thief’s controls can be rebound across keyboard, mouse and controller.
- Dyslexic font option: We love our stylized fonts, but we want you to know what’s going on. A dyslexic font option is available for all in-game text.
- Difficulty ranges: Not everyone wants the hardest difficulty. Witch Thief ranges from practically no combat “Chill” mode to the extreme “Insanity” mode which increases both bullet counts and speed. Oh you only get one life there too.

cute game but it would need a lot of work for me to recommend also the fact mid level checkpoints don't seem to work. mainly the fight design is just awful. things like the beams are just the devs way of making artificial difficulty. nothing is telegraphed well like things from behind give little to no warning before you're dead. fights are all in open rooms and everything kills you in one hit (though one of the characters has a shield). all this just makes this game more frustrating than fun. fights just feel uninspired and the best boss strategy for the main character is to cheese them by saving your power moves and just using them on the bosses 3 health bars. a top down camera would also have been nice and if there is one i didn't find it. there are just better games out there to recommend this as it is now. 4/10 GAMEPLAY you control a hovering witch that shoots spells (fire=wide spread, light=close spread, slash=fires strait with no spread, missiles=homing, or a laser=holds a beam forward but slows your movement) these can be upgraded if you grab the same spell you're using at the time. you'll also have a power move that pulls in all the enemies bullets and fires them forward.…5 found this helpful
Conceptually very intriguing, Witch Thief begins as a fun blast 'em up that challenges you to defeat enemies while dodging their attacks. It's a shmup reimagined for 3D, and this creates a lot of changes to the way you move - dodging bullets requires being much more spatially aware, and this is entertaining in the initial stages of the game. But as levels progress and the bullet storms become more frenzied, trying to keep your focus in check (should I evade the magenta insta-death beam, or pelt the boss with a spell?) gets a little overwhelming. You don't have as much time to react to attacks that might surprise you from behind. There are a few cool enemy designs, such as the sword-spitter, however by and large most levels featured repeated baddies in unnecessarily long rounds which is tedious. In short: great idea, execution needs tweaks.2 found this helpful
This game is genuinely so frustrating to play, who even playtested this?
if you like witchy stuff like me you'd probably like this game too if you like really hard games you'd probably like this game too if you like dying over and over in games you'd like this game too you know, even on the easiest difficulty it is still hard to beat. this game is solid. lol https://www.tiktok.com/@homiearigato/video/7351486484844760325?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7352461584411248134
For a bullet hell, this game feels quite unfair. The dodge mechanic feels unnecessary and more of a bandaid to a much bigger problem. The problem? Unclear hitboxes. I cannot, for the life of me, tell where the hitboxes are on bullets or on my character. The character's hitbox feels larger than shown, and enemy hitboxes feel nonsensical. The game continuing to play after death does not help you go "that's what I died to", as well. A lot of deaths feel unwarrented because I can't tell what hit me.
Don't ask me why.
