Dead Rising 4

It's dumb zombie-killing fun. The weapon combos are ridiculous and smashing through hordes never gets old, but the game gets repetitive pretty quickly. Story is forgettable and it doesn't quite have the same charm as the older games.

I have just completed Dead Rising 4 and the Frank Rising DLC. (Putting the ending behind a DLC was certainly a choice.) I did it in two sittings, taking me 16 hours total. It was bad from start to finish. The only saving graces being it was easy enough to just do for the first time in 2 sittings and the constant collision bugs were often humorous while not getting into my way much. That being said I didn't need to try for the engine jank to kick off. Just climbing onto a box in the course of expected gameplay send my flying in tangential directions. No the issues I really did have problems with were the intentional ones. Invisible walls, that do not make sense either thematically or physically, Bosses not dying from their health hitting zero but instead when it passes an animation flag or after it's been given several seconds to get a few extra free attacks in on you before they die. A fake chase sequence where you can catch up to the person but you can't complete the chase until they reach a specific location and more hidden walls so you can't use frank's leap attack into or out of buildings. Ignore the hater reviews. This game looks better and more optimized from the previous clanky game. Yes, writing is a little bit poor and yes, you don't have a cringy humor like the original ones but what you expect; another walk in the mall? I think two mall sim is enough for the franchise and they did something new in this one. Don't hate this game because what they did to Frank!
