Rise of the Argonauts is a divisive action RPG where some players consider it an underrated gem with solid combat and engaging dialogue choices, while others find it dated and janky even for its era. Those who enjoy ancient history settings and character-driven storytelling tend to appreciate it, though the game's combat is generally described as straightforward and easy rather than challenging. Players who discover it seem satisfied with the experience, particularly those willing to overlook its technical roughness.
Well, first things first. I find it a bit saddening to see that this game is delisted... Meaning, that not many or any would come to discover it at this point. Even making this review somewhat obsolete... But regardless, if we are to speak of hidden gems among our vast libraries, this game might be one of those especially shiny ones that you keep on overlooking no matter how many times it catches your gaze... Now before i get too ahead of myself, I've got to admit - to my shame, that i was not overly familiar with this classic tale of ''Jason and the Argonauts'' prior to playing through the game. And from what i have learned afterwards is that it does differ from the original in some ways, so keep that in mind, i guess. Personally such knowledge means little, i always take in the game for what it is and rate its overall value/impact on different points. So if they wanted to make their own spin on the tale, i can appreciate that as long as it is done in a compelling way - and to that point, in my opinion, the whole package is done quite marvelously. The moment you're let loose on your quest into this mythological world of ancient Greece, the whole experience becomes entrancing and…2 found this helpful

Played on the steam deck: some strange sparkling effects in some zones, but otherwise 100% playable with no issues. Good short rpg, simple with a lot of dialogue and choices that don't reeeeally matter except to how you want to answer the dialogue. Fighting was alright, pretty easy.
If you love games based on ancient history this one does it right.
