Tachyon Fire

Absolutely fantastic game, I would definitely recommend grabbing this gem! I'd compare it to Devil Daggers but more Quake-ish and generally a lot more fun in my opinion. There is a very high skill ceiling in the movement system and the style is great! The only point of criticism I'd have is the level count, but the developer is working on increasing it and there is already tons of replayability through the medals for each medal which grade your performance. The engine is even open source!

haven't played nearly enough yet to write a proper review about the game itself (i have a fat ass backlog and i'm employed fml) but this is essentially the Quake 3 Arena of Devil Dagger i just remember stumbling on this randomly on youtube in the midst of arguing with a friend about game engines, custom engines and all that. point is, i have immense respect for people like the dev behind this, going through the excruciating process of making an entire 3d engine to make a fun ass game, just a pure passion fueled project that doesn't try to be anything else than what it is, a cool ass arcade shooter with a very satisfying tribe-like movement/feel to it. ♥♥♥♥ like this is why i love the indie scene, people slightly insane enough to bring forth a vision or an idea, whatever the reason behind its upcoming might've been, at least it's here, forever.. or until gabe newell dies and presses the big ''kill steam'' red button.

Pretty good quakelike horde shooter. bangin soundtrack, enemy design is easy to learn hard to master and It's overall an improvement on the formula set up by games like Devil Daggers and Hyper Demon. Weapon progression is similar to Cave Story, where you collect gems from defeated enemies to upgrade your guns and hammer. If you enjoy games that progress through mastery, this is a solid pick. Movement is heavily slide and momentum based, which requires you to plan where you want to go like 4 steps ahead. My only critique is that despite all of the guns being satisfying and fun to use, I find it hard to fully upgrade them during a level. You have to choose which weapons you want to upgrade, which can often mean other ones are ignored. Upgrading the hammer is satisfying and the most useful tool you'll have, which means I can't always have the machine gun at level 3. This is a good problem to have though, and its good to play through different levels focusing on what you want to upgrade.

Fun and unique movement, interesting enemies that make you use everything at your disposal and satisfying sound design. Very impressive for a solo project.

Originally this was a negative review about the optimisation being bad but the developer responded and helped me fix the error. now the game runs smoothly. Thanks! Also the games pretty good too
