About Realm of Cubes

What is Realm Of Cubes?
Realm Of Cubes is a Voxel-based Action Adventure RPG. It takes place in a fantasy world that is in need of help from you, the adventurer. You can experience the world by yourself, or with a friend!
What features are in the game?
◽Do Quest!
◽Level Up!
◽Choose between seven classes: Mage, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Warrior, Deathknight, Shaman.
◽Explore a hand crafted fantasy world inspired by World of Warcraft and Cube World.
◽Action based combat with aiming/strafing.
◽Different mounts and achievments to collect!
◽Lots of companion pets to find!
◽Hang gliding!
◽Help out the residents by completing quest and defeating monsters around the world!
◽Unique talent trees for each class.
◽Level progression up to level 60.
◽Play single player or with a friend with couch co-op!
◽Lots of unique spell abilities for each class!
◽Multiple professions: Bartending, Cooking, Smelting, Tailoring, Alchemy, Camping, Blacksmithing, Fishing, Mining, and Gardening!

However, be careful, if you start the game with a controller. Steam tries to map the keyboard and mouse to a controller and it's supposed to be played with a keyboard and mouse. If you would like to play it with couch co-op here's a guide I'm linking below.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's solid foundation as a casual WoW-like ARPG with a good world to explore, though they note it suffers from rough controls (tank-like turning instead of strafing), poor optimization, and long load times that feel deliberately designed to avoid refunds. The biggest issue is developer abandonment: despite promising updates in early 2023, the developer has gone silent for over two years with no active development, leaving players frustrated with yet another abandoned Early Access title and disappointed by poor communication with the community.

Don’t buy this game its now been completely abandoned and has no active development that is going to be happening for the foreseeable future. Game was last updated August 30th, 2022 then the dev replied to a post of mine on the 24 Dec, 2022 saying that “do not worry. January/February 2023 I'll be able to provide additional updates.” Well its now march 10th and now the dev posted they don’t have access to a computer with internet and they can’t work on the game. Such a shame this is yet another failed project/ abandonware on steam. Maybe the devs of these Early Access games should more active with the community and better at communicating information to its community. Game developers like this really make steam feel like a really bad place to buy games leaving you left disappointed and ripped off rather than feeling excited of your new purchase game. Overall this Realm of Cubes Early Access game was quite fun to play and could have turned into something exciting. The game ran very well on my ultrawide monitor at 3440 x 1440 resolution with 120-144fps. The starting spells were quite fun to use as a mage as I was questing the mobs looked good and the environment and npc’s made it an …

probably a good game, but the controls instantly made me cringe. you can't strafe A/D keys turn you, so instead of controlling a person you are controlling a tank/car. this sort of stuff has me instantly refund. This is excluding the ridiculous initial loading time, which had me thinking they were deliberately slowing the first loading time to push you past the 2 hour refund policy. oh and the cogwheel that is universally accepted as 'options'? its not, the options is '?'. I am convinced this game is not created by a gamer. game could have had me keep it, but the turning, loading was an instant no.

sadly, the game is not steam deck compatible, the framerate on it is horrific, so i never got to test it properly.

This game is honestly a game that I can see turning into something really great if the developer keeps working on the game and doesn't just abandon it. Sure, some of the controls and all are still rather rough, BUT the game has a very good baseline already I gotta say that and once you get used to all the stuff and know your way around it is actually a fun game. This game aims more towards the direction of what I would have loved Cube World to be like and I am honestly really excited to see what kind of Updates we get in the future. One feature that would be super cool of course is the ability to play online with your steam friends, that would just be the cherry on top if it would be possible to add that in the future maybe. Besides that, a very good base game so far, keep working on it and i know it can be something great!

It's like cube world x world of warcraft, pretty chill, still rough around the edges, but i would recommend

Edit: Ok, after 2 years without a word from the dev, I can't recommend it as a work in progress. Realm of Cubes is a casual singleplayer WoW-like ARPG. I think it captures the WoW questing vibe pretty well. The game isn't finished, but it's still being developed, and there is a fairly large seamless world map with several different zones with quests and dungeons to do, and a lot of loot to be found/crafted. It has two player splitscreen coop, but player 2 is like a placeholder character with no gear or progression, and odd controls. I would recommend the game if you like the premise and want to give feedback and support the solo indie developer who's working on it. It's badly optimized and buggy, but the dev is passionate about this game and very responsive to feedback and bug reports. Most of the complaints in the negative reviews have been addressed already. The game has improved drastically since I first played. This is not an asset flip or a cash grab. It's a pretty ambitious work in progress with a decent amount of content.
