Cult of Shadows

Cult of Shadows is a punishing, yet very enjoyable action roguelike. With only 2.4 hours of game time in the books, I'm not sure I can really give the game a full and honest review. Combat is fun, the environments are dark and detailed, but progression is where it hits the wall for me. It felt as if I hardly improved my stats and weapon/armor loadout. In fact, I never came across any kind of jewelry or armor outside of a shield. The draw for these games is feeling how much stronger you've become, and that's something that never came to fruition. The other downer would be the ranged weapons. You acquire a number of staves and bows, but you can't use them. It seems you need an accompanying trinket or armor piece that is nowhere to be found in this stage of the game. I still enjoyed my time playing, but it is frustrating looking back at the fact that I honestly gained zero ground. Still a positive review, but not by a lot. I'll revisit the game in the near future in hopes of a few fixes. FINAL RATING: 6.5/10

I've been really enjoying Cult of Shadow. The graphics are stunning, especially on the highest settings, and the game runs smoothly with excellent performance. The gameplay is incredibly addictive, and if you're a fan of this genre, I'm sure you won't be able to step away from your computer anytime soon. It's one of those games that keeps you coming back for more. The developers have also announced regular updates, so I'll definitely be following the game's future content. I highly recommend giving Cult of Shadow a chance—it's absolutely worth playing.

The general game loop is entertaining, although there's some field for improvements.

Of course its not perfect, but considering how small the team is, its still impressive. Its definitely hard and grindy but imo its to be expected from a game like that. I suck, so it took me quite a while to progress, but it felt good when i managed to beat a level. And thats better than being too easy, especially since sadly some devs are pressured into making their games beatable in 1 hour.

The more you play, the better you get, and the more fun you have. You just need to take your time, learn the rules, craft, and keep going. Definitely enjoyed it
