About BIT.TRIP RUNNER
Guide a character through rhythmic obstacle courses synced to an electro-synth soundtrack, where perfectly timed jumps and slides feel like dancing with the music itself. Its pixel-perfect controls and hypnotic fusion of retro aesthetics with modern rhythm-game design create an addictive challenge that rewards both reflexes and musical intuition.
Notably, in the 2011 Independent Games Festival, it earned the esteemed Excellence in Visual Art award and received honorable mentions for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize and the Excellence in Audio awards, solidifying its status as an outstanding gaming experience.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
BIT.TRIP RUNNER is praised for its excellent retro aesthetic, catchy soundtrack, and challenging gameplay that rewards persistence, though players consistently report that the high difficulty, unclear mechanics for new obstacles, lack of clear feedback on required actions, and some input lag issues make it frustrating and potentially inaccessible. The game appears to appeal most to players who enjoy punishing challenges and don't mind repeated failures, while those seeking clarity and accessibility may find it exasperating.
I kept failing simple jumps, and then the game crashed. There is some input lag, and the graphics are blurry and confusing, so this doesn't feel fun to me at all.
Every negative comment is people being buns Try playing ts on a wii-mote, bub
I finally beat the first world boss after countless attempts and years only to be greeted by an eye sore of a new world color scheme that throws a plethora of new items your way that don't tell you what to do. It becomes an entire guessing game on what move is needed and there's little to no time to react. With this "Simon Says" like playstyle where you have to remember each move from start to finish, I have zero desire to complete this game. Would not recommend.
This game is so hard and being a perfectionist makes it way harder.
A great game for anybody (including ME) to scream at. I mean like, you might really need to eye on where to jump, to slide, to kick, and whatsoever. Difficulty asides this retro theme and gameplay looks good, but man, the soundtrack is AWESOMEEE. Kinda caught my eye when I remember seeing it on Wii while I barely fricking beat these levels. In overall words, this game is great and tortureful at the same time playing it even if you're the first time trying it because curiosity.
It's chillin
