✦ AI summary

Players widely praise Baldur's Gate 2 as one of the greatest RPGs ever made, celebrating its legendary villain, deep stat-based storytelling, extensive character customization, and rich lore that defined the CRPG genre. However, some criticize its aged 2nd Edition AD&D mechanics, significant mage balance issues that can make them overpowered, clunky user interface elements, and restrictive keybindings that can't be customized.

The plot is excellent. The gameplay is very good. Why did they stop making games like this?

My personal favorite of the 3 Baldur's Gate games. I'm more than a little biased seeing as this game (the original release back in 2000) was my first foray into top-down isometric style games and I 'think' it was also my first real experience with Dungeons & Dragons. If not this it was Advanced Dungeons & Dragons at around the same time. Anyone coming from Baldur's Gate 3 should know, if you somehow don't already (this was kinda controversial when BG3 was in early access), this game isn't turn based. It's real-time with a pause mechanic that you use to give your party orders. I grew up with it, was a little let down when BG3 wasn't doing it, but I understand why Larian Studios didn't. Many people take issue with the hud and menus as well. I guess they didn't age very well, and some of the character sheet screens (admittedly) can be a little rough to navigate if you don't know what to look for. that being said, it grows on you, and once you learn it the game opens up. I personally think all of the menus and information is presented in a very charming way. You will get too much lore, and it is mixed in with how a spell or item works mechanically. It's cool stuff, but even I woul…

There is very few games where the sequal is better then the orginal. This is one of them. It is the son of the OG, Buldar's Gate 1. It's an amazing game with great lead in from the first game. Pro: -Good RPG -multi playable stories -hours and hours of game play Cons: -THAC0

Wraps up the story from where it left off in the first games expansion SoD. More detail but a little less grand then its predecessor.
