✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this enhanced edition, with some enjoying the classic D&D-based gameplay and story despite its age, while others report significant stability issues including crashes and softlocks that allegedly weren't present in the original or GOG versions. The consensus suggests the remaster lacks meaningful improvements beyond controller support and may actually have introduced new bugs, making the GOG version a safer purchase for those concerned about stability.

I want to start off by saying I love this game. I've been playing it since November of 2006. But I can't recommend it. To start off, there are a few things that this version does that are a plus. First off textures do look better than the original version, especially in 2k or 4k resolution. It's not something I could pinpoint in screenshots, but it is noticeable when you switch between NWN2: Complete and NWN2:EE. You can just tell that the original game was designed for 1024x768 resolution. It's also, nice as an older gamer, to not have to wear my reading glasses when reading ingame text. Second, it's nice to have a functional server browser. Third, the controller support is a great addition to the game. These positive aspects do not outweigh the issues that this game has. One issue which is a problem for all versions is the length of the original campaign. I've heard some youtuber describe it as a 60 hour campaign that should have been 20 hours at most, and I couldn't agree more with that sentiment. Thankfully, the expansion campaigns are shorter than the OC. But the biggest issue I've had is specific to this version. The game is not as stable as the Complete version…

A very great game if you don't mind some good medieval fantasy style play. I know why the reviews are bad, but there is an explanation! This game originally came out on cd in the mid 2000's, and it worked back then, and still works today, even better so long as you install it right. Assuming you want to play online, there is a popular server that takes some minor installation steps to get it at it's best. It is a roleplay server, for adults, meaning no one under 18 years old. You can look up the server from the forum at: www.bgtscc.net And now, the Steam version is as good as the other versions, thanks to the Goat on the Discord channel. The community is helpful and friendly. My advice if you are new to roleplay, as someone once gave to me long ago, is to, "Look at the world through your character's eyes." It gets easier with practice. Hope that helps!

"Mask of the Betrayer" campaign was a very dark, thought-provoking piece, the base vanilla campaign is also a decent good vs evil story, can see some genre defining tropes born here. Also featuring one of the most legendary characters "Ammon Jerro", obsidian makes good games. Voice acting is decent despite critique, especially Ammon's.

terribly unoptimised, buggy, broken scripts in the campaign and crashes constantly. great game if you can get past it, but just play nwn:ee instead and save youself the pain.
