HOARD

One of the few PS3 games that really stuck with me. Simple and awesome. By the way, I love playing through Steam Link.

honestly, this is a funny little game. it has charm to it. gameplay has some depth to it, you and up to 3 other players control a dragon that can go around and collect gold or convert towns and capture princesses and the like to see who gets the highest score. the fun part of it comes from leveling up your horde by getting enough gold, which you can use to put points into different skills, like speed or how much you can carry, which also gives your dragon physical changes as you put more points into them. games can be short, but there is a lot of maps and different game types you can play to give you a lot of play time on it, or even replay maps you enjoy the most. you can also pick from a fair selection of dragon colors, should one be more interesting to your tastes. music is cute, it is energetic and nice enough to get you into the competitive spirit without getting too try hard on it? though music is a little lacking in the variety department, for how many different songs there are. the game looks nice, it has a sort of pseudo board game look to it, as loading an area has pieces fall into place, while most of the models look like they are little toys. the only thing …

It is one of the old game which we often play and forget. I did played it back a few months ago as I forgot how I enjoyed this small game. Hoard is litterally a 1 to up to 4 players where you play a classic dragon who terrorize the kingdoms to hoard gold coins in your lair, brazing crops and villages, kidnapping princess to get a ransom for more coins, destroy mage towers to steal their focus crystals, etc. The thing catch is, if you constantly ravage the land around, the kingdom will never fully prosper. And so does the minimum wealth coming in your lair. You can, however, let the kingdom prosper so you can steal bigger coffers! But the risk will be higher to get higher rewards. The game also offers a competitive gameplay against other dragons, AI or players alike. But there is also a Coop mode where you can play with your friends to hoard as much as possible with a shared lair. But I must admit that, despite the game being that old, I wish for a small addon like an infinite mode for solo play or maybe coop/pvp where you can save a file before continuing your infinite mode. Hoard is an interesting game with a fun premise. Its strongest selling point is probably its ability to be picked up for relatively short missions (with the option of co-op) and competitive matches. In this, it pretty much excels. I could tell it was a game I wouldn’t want to play for long despite being pretty fun, but I do think it fills a niche that others would find very appealing.

Solid little arcade-y type game! I got this when I was pretty new to steam overall and now a decade and some later went through it all. It's a good time killer if you need something to play in 10 minute or so bursts. Some of the later levels give a solid challenge, especially everything in the survival category. Sometimes its hard to gauge how close you are for a fire breath, and the fireball powerup can be annoying to aim at a distance, but overall a solid and fun experience.

Super niche, very indie, fun and arcadey game.
