About A Quiver of Crows

A difficult twin-stick shmup set in a grim world cursed by demons and ghouls.

Frantic Battles in a Grim World

 • Unlike most shmups, this world is made up of flesh, bones, and dirt instead of the common rigid objects such as ships set in space.
 • Each enemy type has a unique set of behaviors.
 • Most foes do not follow preset patterns. Instead, they try to hunt you down.
 • Some enemies fly in close for melee combat. Others will shoot from a far away range.

Co-op Twin-Stick Action

 • The game blends the insanity of shmups with the free range of motion of twin-stick shooters.
 • Find a friend. Find a couch. Have tons of fun with the optional single-screen couch co-op!

Upgradeable Weapons, Bombs, and Shields

 • Collect and enhance a variety of weapons. Influenced by traditional shmups, watch as your weapons’ firing trajectory and pattern change with each upgrade.
 • From heat seeking quills to things that go BOOM, collect them all and use them to crush your foes!
 • Upgrade your shields to withstand relentless attacks.

Play on Windows, Mac, & Linux

 • Best played with a twin-stick controller. Steer with the left stick, aim with the right.
 • Never fear! You can also use your keyboard and mouse.

✦ AI summary

A Quiver of Crows is a visually stunning and atmospheric bullet-hell shooter with impressive art direction and music, but players consistently struggle with its extreme difficulty and some frustrating design choices like slow-following power-ups that get trapped in enemy clusters. While the game appeals to hardcore shoot-em-up enthusiasts who enjoy the challenge, casual players and those seeking accessibility find it punishingly hard, with later levels featuring difficulty spikes that feel less rewarding than frustrating.
A Quiver of Crows game. You, as a flying being, 'a crow', shooting with some lasers into some relentless ever-respawning undeads of various sorts. Now, I love the challenge in the games. But as of this one... the real challenge is not about managing that imbalanced 2d bullet hell type shooter. It's about finding the reasons to do so. I saw some players who actually vocalized they like this atmosphere of decadence and death. But that 'atmosphere of dance macabre' is actually the only 'positive' thing that is on the plate. Sure, the visuals are decent, for a side-scroller, and there is some 'advanced' physics of flying bones, distracting you and making you waste some of your shots. But that's about it. No reward, not a hint of what's going on... And yeah, total unfairness of the fight. I just wonder, how many players …

I really wanted to like this game. It is beautifully designed and I loved the idea of it however...I was horrible at it. I couldn't get past the second level because I was just so bad at it. If you're a crazy hard core shoot 'em up kind of person then this game is great but if you're casual then I just can't recommend this. It's very hard.

A Quiver of Crows, developed and published by Sheado.net, is a grim yet visually striking twin-stick shooter that trades the sterile environments of most shooters for a world built from bone, flesh, and shadow. It takes a familiar genre—the 360-degree shooter—and injects it with a haunting organic atmosphere that feels equal parts dreamlike and oppressive. The player controls a crow, not a spaceship, navigating a series of twisted environments overrun by demonic creatures. The goal is deceptively simple: free your fellow crows and cleanse the land of corruption. What unfolds is a challenging, intense experience that demands both reflex and strategy, wrapped in a presentation that is as grotesquely beautiful as it is unsettling. The first thing that stands out is the art direction. A Quiver of Crows takes place in a living world, where even the landscape seems to breathe. The backgrounds are composed of tangled roots, pulsating organic structures, and skeletal remains, giving each level the appearance of something halfway between a decaying corpse and a medieval painting. The color palette is dominated by deep reds, blacks, and ochres, creating a sense of decay and danger that pers…

This game is amazing. The music and artwork are both amazing and the game is quite challenging.

I don't really know why I played this game for 2 hours. I didn't enjoy it…but it was challenging and I felt compelled to continue. Until the 2nd arena battle, where I hit a wall. If I had one serious complaint to make to the developer, it's that making the weapons powerups slooowly follow you once you get close is just really a bad idea, because when you're kiteing enemies around the arena, the powerup is stuck in a blob of enemies and you can't get it it, and without powered up weapons you can't destroy the blob. So. Infuriating. That, and weapons powerups often spawn off-screen in the arena. You hear the sound, but it's not in your field of view. Also not fun. Maybe this game would be more fun co-op.
