Husk

Husk isn't terrible, but it isn't good either. It's mediocre in nearly all respects. Being an indie game from almost a decade ago, I won't bother critiquing the graphics because there's no point. However, the combat is janky and uninteresting. The general pacing of the game makes the experience feel like an unenjoyable slog. Puzzles are very basic and uninspired. Voice acting ranges from [i]okay[/i] to [i]very [b]not[/b] okay.[/i] The story isn't awful, but it is very predictable; by the time the prologue is over, you already know how the story will end. On a positive note, Husk doesn't rely on cheap jump scares. The game has a few moments of creepiness, but the problem is that the poor pacing tends to ruin whatever sense of atmosphere the developer was trying to build. I didn't notice any major bugs during my playthrough, which is a plus. Lastly, the stealth mechanic is basic but does seem to work properly -- and if you don't like sneaking around, you can always opt for the janky combat instead. I'm sure this game has its fans, but I wouldn't recommend Husk to anyone. There are much better ways to spend your time and money.

A walking simulator. The monsters pose no real threat and they're not even scary. Not to mention that your character goes out of breath every like 20 seconds so you can't run.

A I am not big fan of this title. This was supposed to be horror, which instead making me scared sometimes makes me annoyed. This is basically walking simulator with really straighforward chapters design, where in most of the cases you have just one path. Apart from caves level which instead is way to long. Story itself has important message to deliver, but experiencing this from the perspective of this character makes little sense to me. Seeing this from daughter side would be better, but hey! Girls don't wield guns so we coudn't have this mechanic being added. Glad it's over, it was just a few hours.

The gameplay is clunky and clearly lacking in some areas but I actually enjoyed this one. My main complaint would be that the game doesn't control very well. It's forgivable being a smaller indie title but it did take a bit of getting used to. I also experienced a bug where I got stuck out of bounds on the beginning of a chapter but luckily you can skip to any chapter. Story wise, the game is what you'd expect from a Silent Hill inspired game. I found it compelling even though it isn't wholly original. I would recommend so long as you have reasonable expectations. I don't think 6 hours with this game will make you regret being born. The game is better than I'm making it sound. Give it a try. Make a YouTube video about it or something. I wish there was more discussion regarding this game. It deserves that much. Go play it!

I personally liked the game. I liked the story and didn't really mind the amount of walking. I kind of like slow games that take awhile to get to the end. So this was just fine for me. I think the enemies are a little bit underwhelming, but for a new player who doesn't know where to go or what to do then it can be hard. I got stuck on a part and was chased by an enemy that would just occasionally smack me as I ran from it lol, it's a little goofy. I definitely recommend for the ones who like story games that are slower paced. I like that it is also a desolate setting like everyone left without you for some reason. But overall in MY opinion I recommend it and think it's worth a try. {Probably not worth the price though...}
