This game is fun and relaxing, but without the expansion packs it quickly becomes stale and has reduced replay value. If the expansions were released I'd buy them immediately and change this review to a thumbs up. I would also like to see an AI difficulty setting since the AI is a little to easy, even with 4 opponents I usually win fairly easily, unless I get really unlucky. I've also seen some people saying the game is too hard so do believe a range of difficulties would benefit the gameplay experience.

A perfect replication of the board game... to its credit and detriment. Quick and chill but not very deep. The white background is harsh on the eyes. Wish it had been injected with some extra charm. Well made but not recommended.

Man, I love the actual physical version of this game. I wanted to love this one: it's cute, well animated, and thematic. But it's also missing the expansion content that adds in SO much more to the game. Certain character interactions sometimes bug out and don't trigger, and the achievements appear to be thoroughly bugged. The AI is also permanently on hard mode, with no way to truly tweak the difficulty; something I had issues with in some digital Catan games, where the AIs play with near perfect knowledge and team up specifically to ensure you don't win. Get some friends, play it on Tabletop Simulator instead. This isn't worth it.

Tokaido is a refreshing departure from the competitive spirit that defines many strategy and board game adaptations on Steam. Developed by Funforge and published by Acram Digital, the game embraces a philosophy rarely seen in modern gaming: slowing down and appreciating the experience rather than rushing toward victory. Inspired by the famous road connecting Kyoto and Edo in historical Japan, Tokaido transforms a simple board game concept into a relaxing digital journey where every step matters. Instead of conquering territories or building empires, players spend their time admiring landscapes, tasting regional cuisine, meeting travelers, and collecting memorable moments. This unique approach gives the game an identity that remains distinct even years after its release. The visual presentation is one of Tokaido's greatest accomplishments. Its hand-crafted aesthetic captures the charm of the original tabletop game with remarkable elegance. The environments are colorful without becoming overwhelming, and the soft animations help create an atmosphere of peace and contemplation. Coupled with a gentle soundtrack, every session feels less like a traditional strategy game and more like a…

Quick turns, beautiful implementation of the board game, and simple rule set make this a wonderful game to play and escape from the grind for a few minutes a day.

Simple game (and priced appropriately), with an absolutely lovely visual style. I don't know that it's the deepest of games but it's fun enough and I could see us maybe pulling it out again sometime to play with a friend.
