What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Darkwater has an interesting concept with submarine customization that some players appreciate, but the core gameplay suffers from repetitive battles, limited level variety, and performance issues including stuttering and poor frame rates that affect the experience. Players also criticize the confusing interface, lacking visuals, and overall feel that the gameplay loop needs more depth and polish to sustain engagement, with most feeling the game needs significant improvements before it's worth investing in.
I really loved the concept of this game and had an open mind about the early access title. But after playing it, the battles feel repetitive and the main levels need more tiles to feel less like the same. Enemies are more of a nuisance than a threat. IMO there needs to be more sustenance for the gameplay loop to feel less meh.1 found this helpful

Game chugged terribly and even just the lobby was running at a terrible framerate, let alone the actual game. All of my friends had the same issue.
great game but theres this weird visual stuttering bug that doesnt seem to be getting fixed
Darkwater has some good ideas, but the GUI feels poor and can be confusing to use. The graphics could also look much better and more polished. The game can still be enjoyable, but it needs better menus and nicer visuals. 6/10. Decent, but it needs improvement.
