What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise this music editor for being accessible and fun, making it great for beginners and those nostalgic for Mario Paint Composer, though some appreciate its similarity to actual notation software. However, multiple users report significant bugs including instrument changes not applying properly, playback failures requiring reloads, and a frustrating issue where saved files cause notes to drift out of position, leading some to regret their purchase and recommend using the free web version instead.
great simple music editor that got me into making music! it's very simple so relatively easy to use.. If you arent sure yet then you should try his web version cuz it's free. btw i'm not sure how to import soundfonts or if that's even available, but i would really appreciate it2 found this helpful
If you loved Mario Paint Composer back in the day, you'll love this. Mostly because it's exactly the same thing.1 found this helpful
I'm trying to find a better MIDI editor as soon as possible. This thing constantly craps out; music channels refusing to change instruments, causing me to have to re-place every note manually instead of changing a channel, the playback randomly deciding it doesn't want to work anymore, causing me to have to save progress and reload... if you came from the website and got this because you thought it was better, don't. The only thing it allows you to do is edit with the better soundfont, and even then, it craps out so often that you're probably better off using the website to make the base MIDI, then using the free version of FL Studio to edit soundfonts. Biggest waste of $15 ever.1 found this helpful
PROS: Extremely easy to get into and learn You can make (or recreate!) quite a lot of songs with the instruments you have A very good tool to learn composition and its tricks You can make it look like an early 2000's Beatmania IIDX video if you want I made my favourite Deltarune song in it! (https://danielx.net/composer/#api-o6TpRks88Stmky88ia0xjRoq2tc0lUrSVty0HYCUvUc) CONS: A nasty bug: whenever you save a song as .midi or .dxc and then reopen it, your notes will drift slightly from the spots they're supposed to be in. Thus, it works best to make each song in one session (or just not close the game) There used to be a section feature, but for whatever reason it's been removed1 found this helpful
Super fun and engaging way to create music. This is great fun for composers and arrangers of all skill levels. I like how it is a fun and casual setting but is still similar to actual notation programs. 10/10 recommend!1 found this helpful
