Not a bad game with replayability such as different endings. I enjoyed it overall along with the design and I can't think of any complaints really, maybe a patron or two in the background of the tavern would of added to the atmosphere. Jumpscares were light too since they were pretty much a monster popping in and out like a ghost. https://youtu.be/HYIAgNHkWL42 found this helpful
I got too scared! I don't play a lot of horror games but I was drawn in by the atmosphere. It's not jumpscare heavy, but there were a couple that really really got me. I'm weird about the long pale skinny wrong-humanoid monster phenotype, like sk*nwalkers or the creatures from until dawn for another example, that type of creepy, so I had to pause the game a few times and one of them got me so bad I just quit. It ran past me and I just couldn't bring myself to even turn and see if it was still there. I haven't finished the game yet! Not sure I will be able to. It is definitely an almost-goofy low-poly type of scary game, but it's still very very effective in my opinion. Recommend giving it a shot for sure! I wish there was a less-scary version where I could just serve stew all day and maybe sacrifice people without the monster, the ambience is phenomenal.1 found this helpful
A short and simple but great game! Amazing work on the tense and suspenseful atmosphere with the art style they're using, and the NPCs kept you wondering what was going to happen/what actions you could take next. Though the game is pretty short (easily 30min if you don't care about achievements/looking around) I still highly recommend it because it's a great play and the few extra endings you can get just add to the fun of the story.1 found this helpful
This has got to be one of the more refreshingly original concepts for a game that I have seen in quite some time. I genuinely do not think that I have ever played something quite like this. The Last Lodge does a great job at establishing a rhythm. You wake up. Pet the cat. Open the inn. Make some delicious-looking stew in a bread bowl, pour drinks, clean up the trash. Even without the horror elements, this is a surprisingly competent and cozy little business simulator. In my multiple playthroughs across nearly 4 hours, the simple tasks inherent in running a medieval inn always felt satisfying. Part of me does wish that there were perhaps just a few more recipes to make, but padding out the length with more days so that you could introduce more food and drink options would probably throw off the tension and atmosphere, so I understand why they kept it as restricted as they did. The actual horror elements of this game are well-tuned. You don't have to worry about monsters chasing you. You are not hiding or fighting. In fact, you are kind of the monster in this scenario. An unwilling monster, but a monster nonetheless. It almost feels a bit like Papers Please or No, I Am Not A Human…1 found this helpful
