About Starminer

✦ AI summary

Starminer puts you in command of massive warships to mine asteroids and build an expanding fleet in real-time space combat with fully simulated physics. Balance profit-driven resource harvesting with defensive capabilities as your growing operation attracts alien attention, forcing you to design and deploy custom ships and stations to survive the inevitable confrontation.

Feel your pulse quicken while piloting your 150,000t warship between asteroids in the vacuum of space in real time. All with fully simulated physics.

Balance material requirements with power, tonnage, and size while building your fleet to maximum efficiency, piece by piece, module by module. Will you create a large number of smaller, more nimble vessels or double down on a massive station packed with firepower?

Harvest and process valuable materials from asteroids for your profit margins, or use the bountiful resources for the maintenance and expansion of your own mercenary fleet while doing missions for the highest bidders in the sector.

Research for new modules and tools to keep expanding your fleet of ships and mining stations. Build link gates to gain access to new riches in new sectors of space.

The more you mine, the more you build and the greedier you get, the higher your heat signature becomes. Once it reaches critical levels, the aliens will detect you. Defend your fleet at all costs using defense systems and ships of your design.

✦ AI summary

Starminer has impressed players with its creative freedom in building ships and stations with realistic physics, and some find it deeply engaging, but it's held back by significant issues including physics bugs that cause ships to randomly break apart, unintuitive UI and quality-of-life problems, and limited endgame content beyond mining and resource management. Players suggest waiting for further development before committing, as the game has great potential but needs polish and clearer systems.

TLDR: not that good, don't buy now I really want to like this... "game", but there are so many things that the devs forgot about - realistic physics are impressive, but not fun, rigid, non-voxel customization is nice, but with realistic physics it makes it almost useless (I let my imagination run wild, made a big ship and physics broke it in half without any possible fix, yet both halves remained the same ship), the rest is "fine" (except I didn't test combat, I'm a coward), but if you mine, process, sell, buy, create and travel, there's not really much more to it. I suppose you'd get a hell lot of micromanaging, since the automation only applies to managing sending and receiving resources, you can't build really big ships, since they will either break or crash into asteroids and you can't feel that you're conquering the solar systems (very limited too). And don't get me started on thrusters - unless you have a "straight line" or "concrete block" ship, the thrusters are useless, because they have realistic physics, which means if the thrust and mass proportions are not balanced, you are going to just spin. Also - bugs, many weird bugs, unexplainable crashes, and weird little …

I am in love with this game but i have been running into a bug with the physics engine where my ship will start tweaking tf out and the modules will detach themselves from the ship and and get sent off into the dark expanse of space. id love to dump countless hours in this game but its hard when my ship just randomly decides to self destruct

Hello, I started playing yesterday and continued today. Just completed the tutorials and i love it so far. The best part for me is the freedom of not jut building a station that keeps expanding but the fact that you can build multiple objects which can be used as stations, ships or modules. I am about to start the campaign and will update the review after a couple more hours. Update: I made it into the Panonia transporter and on my way to Europa. I managed to squish a personal creation of sorts as a ship that can fight, mine, refine into the hangar. Ready to make the jump. I would recommend this game to anyone who wants to build space stations from scratch and ships in any way they want to.

I really love the idea of this game, but it really needs some time to cook. Seemingly basic things like moving colonists between modules on your ship, Splitting stations after you've combined them, a T1 constructor to send energy to a new build, etc etc. There are work arounds for most of these things, but, noting is really intuitive or clear. Hopefully they continue QoL things, and I'd jump right back in.
