About Space Engineers 2
Build ships, bases, and machines from scratch while mining resources and terraforming planets in a fully destructible sandbox where every engineering decision matters. Space Engineers 2 reimagines the series with seamless construction tools, next-gen visuals powered by VRAGE3, and a survival progression system that will expand with co-op and multiplayer throughout Early Access.
What is Space Engineers 2?
Space Engineers 2 is currently a Playable Alpha In Active Development and already lets you begin building, surviving, and colonizing the Almagest System. You arrive in the distant Almagest System on humanity’s first large-scale colonization mission. Your ship is damaged on entry, your tools are basic, and the planets below are beautiful but unforgiving. From here, everything you build is up to you.Explore planets, moons, asteroid rings, and dense clusters. Mine resources, construct bases and starships, complete contracts, discover Datapads, trade, expand into new sectors, and push the frontier forward alone now, and later together with friends as co-op and large-scale multiplayer arrive over the course of Early Access.Creation and destruction never felt this good
Space Engineers 2 takes everything we have learned over the past 10 years and reimagines the space engineering experience with more depth, precision, and creative freedom than ever before. Powered by our new VRAGE3 engine, creation and destruction feel better than ever.Build ships, stations, bases, and machines. Mine asteroids, reshape terrain, carve tunnels, damage structures, and experiment in a fully destructible sandbox where engineering decisions matter.Whether you are a veteran Space Engineer or new to the series, Space Engineers 2 gives you a growing sandbox where your creativity can shine while the game continues expanding through Early Access.Build with great precision
Explore the next generation of construction with the 25 cm Unified Grid System. No more large-grid vs small-grid separation: blocks fit together seamlessly, making it easier to create detailed and functional builds.Mounting point visualization, grid lines, improved controls, and more intuitive building tools help you design, adjust, and refine your creations with greater precision.Smoother building and better tools
Space Engineers 2 introduces major building improvements such as Grid Undo, copy/paste, symmetry, blueprints, Projection Building, Backpack Building, Area Welding, refined CTRL controls, and improved rotation and zoom. These tools are designed to make engineering smoother for both newcomers and experienced players, while preserving the depth and creativity that define Space Engineers.Enhanced mobility and engineering freedom
Take your creations to new speeds with upgraded max velocity: characters up to 310 m/s and grids up to 300 m/s. Magboots and automatic jetpack activation help you stay in control while building, exploring, and moving around large constructions, platforms, ships, and asteroids.Mechanical systems are also expanding. Rotors and Pistons are already available in the current Alpha, with wheels, hinges, warheads, and additional engineering systems planned for future updates.Smarter UI and smoother play
We redesigned UI/UX to make building smoother and more intuitive for both newcomers and pros, giving more freedom to bring your intricate ideas to life. VRAGE3 is being optimized throughout Early Access; performance can vary by hardware, world size, and build complexity. As Early Access progresses, you’ll be able to build bigger ships, fly more of them, and enjoy epic destruction in a truly immersive ride.Survival, colonization, and progression
The current Alpha already includes a real sandbox survival experience. Manage power, oxygen, hydrogen, and health. Mine resources, process materials, manufacture components, build production chains, complete contracts, earn credits, discover Datapads, and begin expanding colonization across the Almagest System. These systems are playable today, but still growing. Long-term survival progression, deeper colonization, richer economy and contracts, NPCs, campaign content, co-op, multiplayer, and many additional systems will continue arriving during Early Access.Next-level visuals
Enjoy the beauty of space, industrial designs, planetary landscapes, and destructive engineering with next-level realism. Space Engineers 2 introduces ray-traced global illumination, realistic shadows, a new skybox, tessellated voxel materials, parallax effects for armor, volumetric clouds, and many other visual improvements that bring depth and realism to every scene.Share your creations
Bring your ideas to life and share your Blueprints and Worlds with the community through Steam Workshop integration. I understand the game is EA but that does not give the game a free pass from criticism. This is a game that is being sold on the store so just like anything I purchase I have expectations. So I picked this up after the 2.3 update. It's starting to look like a playable game now so I wanted to check it out as I have thousands of hours in SE1. While the bones of the game are better the game itself has got a lot of issues. Some of these bugs are familiar to those of early SE1. I like the unified grid building which makes things look and feel much better. It was an interesting choice to let the player build basic stuff from raw resources. The new crafting system is fine as well where you combine components into better high tech components. I also like mining better when it works correctly not having to deal with loose rocks is much better then SE1. The bugs and progression is the biggest point of contention in the current build 2.3. I started out with classic survival and just ran into a bunch of road blocks. Power was the first major issue I ran into starting with solar panels not working correctly. With six panels on my starter ship facing the exact same direction some panels would…4 found this helpful

Since apparently almost an entire years proof that forcing people to use a website where you have to create an account, instead of just using steam as the login...like most games that do this have, isn't good enough evidence; hurting the reviews is going to have to do - so that my vote actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ matters for something. Seriously why are we doing this ♥♥♥♥ again? How many games does this need to happen to prove it's not a good idea? BuT yOu CaN VoTe- you can do that on steam now too that's not a valid excuse. The amount of points you get from purchasing the game alone will give you enough to vote on stuff for a good while - unless you're terminally online redditor but who cares about them. I'll give an actual review when (if) this issue is fixed. Anyway. This is my vote that the auto-save system is not functionally useless. No. It's actively malicious. Disable it and only rely on numbered manual saves and pray that it didn't just randomly decide to overwrite a save - oh wait, it did. Maybe in a years, or two, time the issue will get enough votes to actually land on the radar. Or it wont and will be fixed before that can even happen b…1 found this helpful
Reviewed in VSlice 2.3 This game is amazing and feels like it has tons more potential to unlock and It looks beautiful The modding scene is already surprisingly active but it being such a new game there are still many features that don't exist yet, like scripting and expansions on the modding API for more dynamic blocks My major issues with this game at the moment though -- the early progression is *very* slow before you get things like the area welder, some blocks are weirdly locked behind progression like larger cargo containers or different cockpit options being locked -- This game seems to run dramatically worse than SE1 does/did, and i have been experiencing alot of memory leaks and internal server crashes that lock me in place+animation unable to exit the game or world -- please give us a different key-bind for switching block size and block type with the option to go backwards in the selection, the old way of using the scroll wheel to change types was great, easy to get used to and effective -- I would love the ability to be able to place *some* ghosts without anchor points such as landing gear to be able to start new grids much more easily -- The mirr…
