Sender is a short but carefully focused atmospheric horror game that turns an isolated journey across a frozen wasteland into an exercise in paranoia. Developed and published by The Rat Zone, it places the player behind the controls of an aging arctic exploration vehicle and sends them into the tundra to investigate the disappearance of the driver from an earlier expedition. Rather than overwhelming the player with complicated exposition, the game establishes a simple mystery and allows the increasingly hostile surroundings to carry much of the narrative weight. Driving is the foundation of the experience, but Sender is not attempting to be a detailed vehicle simulator. The exploration vehicle instead functions as both transportation and a psychological anchor. Players travel through a bleak landscape by following power lines and recognizable landmarks, gradually moving deeper into unfamiliar territory as daylight gives way to darkness. Being warned not to wander from the established route adds an effective layer of uneasiness because the environment simultaneously encourages curiosity and makes exploration feel dangerous. That contradiction becomes particularly important when se…

I think that this game has an incredible atmosphere and vibes, the graphic is spot on and the sound design is fantastic! Even if the commands of the crawler are not easy at the beginning, they become satisfying to us after a while. The lore seems deep, nostalgic, and mysterious. Now, the downsides for me are: - The lore promises to be mysterious and deep but ends up explaining almost zero. There are extra signals and a couple of optional things that can be found, but it feels like we are left with nothing at the end. Also, almost all signals are strange random sounds that probably should be analysed with a frequency spectrum software, but I am pretty tired of this ploy...in the end, I am not even speculating about the lore cause I have found zero resources in game (I hope future players will find something hidden, I have crawled all around and didn't find anything) - SPOILER ALERT [spoiler] There is not a real danger, those aliens-like creatures barely chase you or make you think "I have to move, I am in danger". Moreover, the ending was so underwhealming...a dude speaks, a thing appears, a document, STOP...I really resumed immediately cause I though "I must have died or is a bad …

The gameplay is unfun and frustrating, get stuck on something you cant see, try and move away from said thing, your hull has taken permeant damage and you have to restart the engine. That was frustrating enough but I also get reset when I was pretty close to a charging thing because I ran out of charge. It wasn't fun going through a dim obstacle course in a clunky machine the first time and I definitely wasn't going to do it again. Nothing fun or interesting happened the whole time I was playing and that honestly really sucks.
