RAIDBORN is basically that game that gives you the experience of going to whatever dungeon you want, kill everything there in whatever way you prefer and repeat, and honestly it nails it. It's currently sitting at mixed reviews which makes it sound worse than it plays, ngl. A huge chunk of the negative reviews are NOT actually about the game itself, they're about the magic system launching as paid DLC on the exact same day as the 1.0 release. And look, I get why people are mad, magic feels like it should just be part of a fantasy RPG, not an add-on. but I think this is the kind of move we let big AAA publishers get away with constantly (day-one DLC, season passes, whatever) and nobody bats an eye. When a small indie dev does the same thing, suddenly it's "greedy" and "a cash grab." That double standard feels unfair to me, especially because this is a small team trying to create an indie game. I'm not saying the timing was a great call, waiting a couple weeks would've saved them a lot of review-bombing or maybe including it in the final product and raise the price accordingly, but tanking the whole game's reputation over this decision, when the actual content in that DLC is genuine…

I saw the drama with the day 1 dlc so i told myself i would wait until it was on a deep enough sale that the dlc was basically free. it was worth it, this game is so much fun, it actually respects your time. as everyone says it is basically oblivion dungeons but with the boring parts cut out. you dont have to trek across the map, you dont have to make several trips in and out of dungeons to sell ♥♥♥♥, you just fight through dungeons, visit merchants and upgrade your outpost

It's exactly what I hoped it would be. It's like.. a little indie version of Oblivion but focusing more on just unga bunga'ing dungeons and looting. The gameplay feels almost exactly like Oblivion, it's just not open world and thus is a more concentrated experience. If you've ever felt like playing Oblivion or something similar but didn't want to mentally commit to a huge open world RPG because it's overwhelming, try this. It's perfectly simple yet fun with just enough systems and progression to still be satisfying. It's still getting great updates. Ignore the negative stuff about the Magic DLC, those people are uninformed. Controller support is great btw.

Buggy game, though I'd really had some hope that it would be refined into something worth playing in the future. Feels more like a cash grab that's been cobbled together, then had half of the content snuck in behind a paywall. Wouldn't recommend. Seventeen hours might be on record, but half of those were 'I was sleeping hours, because I gave up gaming for the night'. I hope the devs take some of these reviews to heart and adjust course.

I like it. Kinda reminds me of Minecraft Dungeons from an FPS perspective (although in the Unity engine). Load dungeon, smack foes, gather loot, upgrade base. Never going to win any originality awards but its a solid fun time.
