Rusted Moss

Practically perfect in some ways. Movement is complex in a way that becomes intuitively surprisingly quickly. Something feels immediately right controlling this character, and that's really all it takes for me to love this game. The world is interesting to inhabit, and it comes together in ways I didn't expect, in places relevant to the main plot and not. Late game areas especially can be punishing in inconsistent ways, but overall the game feels balanced in the players favor, especially if you're collecting most of the upgrades. Boss design is somewhat limited at times but its varied enough to sustain the 12 or so bosses you're likely to encounter in a playthrough.

This game has no right to be as good as it is. I bought this game because of a fireborn video, thinking it would be a decent game, but now, years later, i can confidently say that this is on par with silksong in levels of quality. the story is incredible and perfectly displayed, so that you dont really notice it at first but it builds up. the gameplay is incredible, with fun and difficult combat and my favourite movement of any game, ever. this game doesnt have a dash or a double jump, but what movement upgrades you do get are incredible and fun. the game has 4 endings and i have all of them (i mean technically there is a 5th joke ending but i havent bothered yet) the best thing of all is this games post-game content. even once you beat the game 4 times, it is the single most replayable metroidvania out there. there is the great climb, which is an unbelievably fun yet difficult region for insane people such as myself. the final boss of the climb is genuinely incredible. the movement tech throughout it all is great. possibly the best decision ever, this game has a level editor. me and my friend have made multiple kaizos for this game and it is so fun to make these levels, spamming r…

A very cool and charming game. Challenging too, but I suspect this will vary from person to person depending on how well they adjust to the grappling hook which is an unique... "hook" for this genre. I'm not super good with this type of grappling, so some of the later challenges I found to be quite tricky for my skill-level. The game is permeated with a very somber tone and atmosphere which I did enjoy immensely! The soundtrack fits the mood, but as this is a game dealing with the Fae, true to form you'll hear some more cheeky and spritely tunes as well. Very excited for the developers next game, as if Rusted Moss is anything to go by it's gonna be a fantastic experience!

Very very fun game. It's a delight seeing how you can make the movement work in your favor. The physics based system always produces chaotic outputs, which some will find frustrating, and the combat definitely has some frustrating parts - but that was always on me I could tell. Boss telegraphs are easy to see and read, there are few to no bugs, and while you sometimes get screwed it's very rare and usually your own fault. Big fan of the game. Genuinely wish the community was bigger, the lore is so goated and I need to read fanfic of it.
