Little-Known Galaxy

Bit of a grind and lacking charm to make the game something special, which is a shame as the game clearly has a lot of potential. This game doesn't really add anything new to the genre, other than being set in space, and really needs some balancing of the level of grind required to do just about anything. As a result, I didn't get the same feeling of satisfaction and progress as I have in other similar games. I really wanted to love this but sadly it was disappointing.

While there are a few interesting ideas to spice up the farming-life sim formula, in all but the most mechanically unique of those games, I view dialog to be of key importance to the actual quality of the game, and the pool of dialog for each character per friendship level is very small, making the dialog, and characters speaking it feel flat and boring. If this game was still getting updates, I would've waited longer to leave this review to see if got fixed in future updates, but alas, it isn't.

I really wanted to like this game. It's essentially Star Trek meets Stardew Valley, which are two of my favorite universes ever. What I did not realize was that this game also incorporates elements of Dark Souls into it. Most of this game's problems boil down to a lack of progress. You can't upgrade your energy bar or health bar, and as a result, completing tasks becomes a resource management issue. Do you sell those crops you just spent 10 days watering, or do you use them to get resources. Combat is weirdly difficult and enemy tactics lack variation. Music does not vary with the quarters (like SDV's seasons) though you do get different music on different planets. As for the good, the design here is fantastically cutesy. I love the theme and vibes. The music is calming. Dialogue feels natural and well-written. The quests are engaging. But unfortunately the grind is just too much for me. It takes the cozy feeling out of the game when I'm spending days in game just to gather the resources to make one machine, or get one upgrade, or complete one quest. So as much as I'd like to recommend this game, I just can't.

I don't know how I forgot to give this a review, but this is one of my favorite Farming Sims of all time l. I don't want to spoil too much, but everything from the progression, the people, the adventure, the music, and the quality of life are top notch. It was very clear that every decision made in this game was intentional to make things super fluid. Something as simple as giving multiple options to move around the ship and placing things in a reasonable proximity made the game smooth and not feel like just downtime. The UI was also great at providing all of the info I needed. I appreciate the reasonable amount of museum and "fishing" because some games can go overboard with forcing the player to find rare items. I could go on and on, but Little Known Galaxy is incredible and a bit underrated imho.

OK if you can get this on discount. It's a bit boring IMO. Like it uses the grind mechanic to extend things needlessly. IMO this is a ok game for $10. I don't think it is worth more. That saying if I have nothing to do then I play it.

After discovering Stardew Valley, I am always on the lookout for other chill games just like it. When my dad told me about a space-themed Stardew-like game called Little-Known Galaxy, I knew I had to check it out. Now, having completed the game, I must say it was worth the purchase. Here are the pros and cons that I found after playing through Little-Known Galaxy: Pros: - First, the ships crew is great. Each character is unique and funny in their own ways. I don't think there was a single character I disliked. - Unlike Stardew, Little-Known Galaxy had a little more story which was fun. Not too much to be overwhelming, but enough to keep you interested. - A chill and soothing soundtrack. - All the different locations (or planets rather) were fun and unique. Different music and different vibes for each of the planets made them feel separate and they each had their own trials and benefits. - Actually completable. It is not an endless game with thousands of hours of grinding - I 100% it in about 70 hours and I was taking my time.
