Scary Shadow Spot - Last Farewell

Scary Shadow Spot - Last Farewell is the latest horror walking simulator / puzzle game from the developer "Daniele Doesn't Matter". Daniele Doesn't Matter made the previous great horror games Lost Alone, The Telephone, and Bloody Ink. Scary Shadow Spot is the new series of games from this developer, prioritising a more short and concise experience, with a 1960's Twilight Zone feel. This game takes place entirely inside a haunted house, and took exactly 2.5 hours to complete. + The story is above average for this genre, has a few twists, and maintains a definitive ending. The game's story does not venture off into obscurity like many games in this genre do. + Lots of genuine scares, crazy jumpscares, and tense situations throughout. Incredible dreadful atmosphere does not let up. + Sound effects are well above average, really creepy death rattles, creaking doors, and all sorts of sounds to creep you out. + The puzzles range from simply finding keys, to several new unique interesting puzzles. Can't stay away from this guy's games. even though they're always a bit rough around the edges in that it crashed a few times and the statue head puzzle was nearly impossible. Also no type of hint or task systems, which would be helpful. It's very linear so there's lots of backtracking, but still I Love this guys game, bumps and all. Can't wait for more.

The follow-up to Lost Alone that I've been waiting for! The Telephone and Bloody Ink were fine, but too serious. Scary Shadow Spot brings back some of the sillier elements from Lost Alone that made it truly endearing and memorable to me. Last Farewell is basically the same game as all the other Doesn't Matter Games games, which I don't consider to be a bad thing. Run around a spooky environment picking up items to solve a huge variety of inventory puzzles. Some of the puzzles require a little thought, some just require you to put objects where they belong. Along the way you'll get jumpscared over and over again. In this game, there are a few short chase sequences where an enemy spawns and then you have to run down the hall to a hiding spot until the enemy gets bored and walks away. It's not going to push your gaming or puzzle-solving skills in any meaningful way, but I still find it to be plenty of fun. There's always a bit of a twist at the end of these games, and personally, I feel stupid for not having realized this one until like five minutes before the end. GREAT storytelling. Absolutely fell in love with this dev after watching some of the playthrough of Bitter Glass and had to check the first episode out. Definitely looking forward to more from this amazing team

Daniele does not disappoint yet again. Every outing from "Doesn't Matter Games" has been a thrill ride for me from the get go. Even way back to the original "Lost Alone Episode One"... they've all been highly interesting... highly frightening... and compelling stories. I've played games that have multiple people working on them that weren't even half as good as Daniele's games... and it's almost entirely him working on every single game. He's quickly became one of my favorite developers in a very short time. Very few game devs have it to where as soon as they release a game... I'm on top of it... and Dani is one of them for sure. If you're reading this review to see if you should play "Scary Shadow Spot"... yes... yes you should. You should also go back and play the other games by "Doesn't Matter Games" and you'll see why I give such high praise to this Developer/Publisher.

Absolute thumbs down. AI all over the place, the woman with the antlers was almost impossible to hide from as I ran to the attic, game is basically run from one end of the house to another, find item, run to other end, find item, run to other end, rinse and repeat. Had to watch a yootoob video to get past several puzzles. Ending was predicable and lame. Don't waste your money. 3/10
