Last Shift (2024)

This game took about 45 minutes to beat and get all achievements. Visually its about what I expected. Nothing spectacular but its not terrible. It ran well. I did have 1 time the game got stuck on loading 15 minutes in and I had to back out and start over but I was tabbing off the game to type in a stream chat so I might have messed it up doing that. The audio wasn't bad, nothing to write home about but I have experienced worse. Gameplay was alright. Personally I am not a fan of having to read a lot for the storyline I would rather hear it audibly through voice acting but a lot of small indie games use text based story telling. Controls where straight forward just wish I could have walked faster but again the slower walking is par for the course on many small indie games. There where a couple jump scare's and the atmosphere was a little spooky. Overall taking into consideration this is a small indie game for $3 USD i give this game a 2.5-3 out of 5 stars. I have played worse indie games that cost more. When I play a game thats $5 and under I don't expect a masterpiece. It's hard to be upset about a game thats $3

The game was going great until the detective walked into the office with the boxes. Found the note about the key. Looked everywhere for a good amount of time, could not find the key, got bored, and quit. Could not finish the game. Rating: 0/10

tl;dr: Flesh this ish out, dev. The atmosphere is on point, you just need to beef up your story so I actually care enough to immerse myself. I'm going to use the office decorations from Mark's shift to describe my thoughts about this game: Duct tape, glue, and string are the core components in practically every project. Construction, plumbing, coding, clothing manufacturing -- all of these and more are held together by these three basic tools. But like, you need more than those to actually HAVE a finished product, yeah? I hated the way I couldn't see beyond a very small (and dim) circle of light. I loathe mannequins. I am super into cleaning sims for some reason. This should've been squarely in my wheelhouse in terms of horror. But you need more than dim lights and jump scares to have a horror game (I mean, I guess you don't, but it helps?). Here's a guy I know nothing about going to do a job in a spooky, dimly-lit, mannequin-infested office. Lots of clues that there's a backstory (why so many meds? Three plates at the table...is he married with a child or does he have roommates or does he set out plates for his demons and also why is that little rabbit plush from House Flipper fo…

Not my favorite of his games, but it was the first one he made. I enjoyed the story but felt the side quests were to make the game longer and did not add much to it. Still would recommend.

A decent little indie-horror work simulator. This game has been done a billion times before, but on sale for just over $1 is totally worth it. There is some decent atmosphere but then it just ends! Classic indie-horror lol with a WTF? But, that is the Last Shift.
