Cube Mind

Cube Mind is a first-person puzzle experience developed by David Seco and published by HeadArrow that builds its gameplay entirely around logical thinking, environmental interaction, and methodical problem-solving. Rather than relying on fast action, narrative-heavy progression, or elaborate role-playing systems, the game commits itself fully to mental challenges and experimentation. Set inside a minimalist science-fiction world filled with interconnected puzzle chambers, Cube Mind focuses on rewarding patience and observation while steadily pushing players toward more demanding tests of reasoning. Surprisingly good puzzle game. Simple mechanics but well used, and every level adds something new. The art style and music create a chill vibe and make it easy to keep playing “one more room”. Glad I found it.

Cube Mind is a puzzle platformer with mechanics very reminiscent of the Portal games, in which weight cubes and projector cubes have to be used to redirect light beams, activate light switches, pressure plates & bridges, and enable/disable force fields, in order to unlock the exit door. The game is in four sections - a "learn by example" tutorial with smaller puzzles, then three sections with complex and large puzzles, each based on a particular mechanic or technique (power jumps, force fields, precision platforming with moving take-off and landing points etc). There are a few achievements, mainly for game progression. There is very little hand-holding with Cube Mind (though levels do seem to have many checkpoints to reduce backtracking after failures), and the learning curve was made harder for me by the nuanced differences between Cube Mind mechanics and their Portal equivalences. For example, I got stuck on an early level which involved a sequence of power jumps in which each jump had to be activated by a cube on a pressure plate, but (seemingly impossibly) the same cube had to be taken through each jump to the next one. I enjoy puzzle games, and this is a very well done and amazing game to play. With all games, there are going to be some bugs, like the cubes being able to go through the yellow walls when turning and walking with cubes sideways through yellow walls, and when you have a cube on a platform, you can't see over top of the cube while lining it up. Other than that, I love this game, Great Job.

The puzzles seem simple at first, but little by little they force you to think in very creative ways without becoming frustrating. The retro-futuristic aesthetic is awesome and the music really accompanies it well. If you like Portal-style puzzles, you're going to love this. Totally recommended.

Simply: Boring and unoriginal. It does everything portal did but without the portals. Furthermore the art style is, in my opinion, ugly and clumsy it feels as if i am playing a game made out of stock assets from some wacky asset pack bundle.
