About Operation Armstrong

Your infiltration team has been tasked with completing a series of missions to stop an army of lunar-bots from crashing the moon into our Earth! The field operative will wield the VR headset, sneaking through each lunar-outpost avoiding the mechanical guards. In this, they will be assisted by their team of hackers, who will guide the field operative and use their smartphones to help clear obstacles and disrupt the enemy. So gather a group of friends, strap on your VR headset and commence "Operation Armstrong"!

This Asymmetric-VR-Stealth-Party game features the following:
  • A series of hand crafted interactable VR environments
  • Phone browser connectivity for cross platform local co-op with no player limit
  • Dynamic, drop-in/drop-out co-op gameplay
  • Level scoreboards and completion awards
  • A level editor and online level sharing through the Steam Workshop

We made the game with the intention of providing a fun way for those spectating a VR user to join in on the action instead of just waiting for their turn. Phone users simply log in to a current game through their browser and can immediately start assisting their headset wielding buddy. Teamwork and communication will be key which can lead to some hilarious and tense moments. Players can drop in and out of the game at any time since responsibilities are dynamically shared equally across all phone users. It's an all round, high energy, inclusive group activity.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this asymmetric VR co-op game for its addictive gameplay loop and fun party concept that works well with friends, with progression systems and community maps adding replay value. However, common complaints focus on shallow VR integration with minimal interactive elements, repetitive minigames, overly simple mechanics that could work on flat screens, and occasional technical issues like SSL certificate problems that prevent non-VR players from connecting.

Loaded up an Oculus game COVERT, but it was still buggy after all these years. HOWEVER, in love with the gameplay, my husband and i went on a search for the best stealth co-op vr game we could find. We ended up HERE. About 6 hours later around 2am, we call bedtime after finishing just the SECOND group of operations. We are HOOKED on this game. As it progresses, you will unlock more skills for both the player and the hacker, which is a big plus for me. I used a laptop for the mobile portion and a Roku for the VR / Map Screen Grid. Using both at the same time is a CRAZY challenge, but once I got the hang of it, I was asking my husband to call me Director for the rest of the night. I saw a review here about how this is not good with a large group. I can understand the reason, but hear me out: Person 1-Agent: this is vr player. Person 2- Router: this player is the lookout and the route planner, using the main screen on tv as his information stream. Essentially this person is NOT playing with a mobile device since they will have their eyes glued to the VR screen as to literally tell the Agent when to hide, go, or giving intel for enemies. Also, the Router will incorporate i…

It's a good idea, but not developed all that well. Basically, the only interactivity in VR is pushing a few virtual buttons, and there's nothing much else you can interact with or do. There isn't much reason for it to even be in VR. On the phone side, you are mostly just pressing a button "open door" or "close door". It's all very simple and not very engaging. But, I do think the idea of an 'escape room' style game where friends can join on their phone is an excellent idea, and I hope the developers can improve on this.

Great game! I had a lot of fun with a group of friends playing through the community maps. Get out there and make some more maps!

Its OK As an asymmetric VR-party game the concept is fun and has potential. The connection with player devices was pretty easy and controls are self explanatory to a degree where we didn't need a tutorial. There are also quite some levels, starting very easy and getting a bit harder to the end (luckily all levels are unlocked from the start). Community levels are also supported. The problem I have is a lack of polishing in terms of visuals and controls and a general lackluster integration of VR as a platform: The VR player could just as well play on a PC and wouldn't really loose anything. There are only three mini games for the VR player and two for the others which gets very repetitive. Furthermore, no advantage of VR is build upon. I would wish for more minigames using the 3D space and considerations as to how the game can justify the requirement of a VR headset over just running on a PC. If I could, I would rate it neutral but since the devs seem to be a very small studio this is an upvote

Non-VR players cannot connect to me, because the developer's site has an invalid SSL certificate. It can be easily fixed by devs, if they will notice it, but be ready to chargeback
