Revolution Editions - Shadow & Steel is a straightforward collection of classic point-and-click adventure games that appeals primarily to nostalgic fans who want to revisit these titles as they originally were, complete with authentic loading times and period-appropriate presentation. Players praise the games themselves as wonderful classics and appreciate the reasonable price and added achievements, though they note there are no new features or enhancements beyond the original experiences.
Recommended for hardcore fans only. I bought it due to the PSX versions of BS 1 and 2, with many fond memories being had with those versions. I wouldn't buy if you played them on PC first. I wasn't interested in Lure of the temptress and Beneath a steel sky, but will probably give beneath a steel sky a go.6 found this helpful
A wonderful stroll down memory lane across multiple titles, it's nothing you haven't already experienced before there's no added extras, nothing really new or different - it's just a very nice collection of titles for a very reasonable price.3 found this helpful

Revolution Editions - Shadow & Steel is a collection aimed squarely at players who appreciate the history of point-and-click adventure games. Instead of rebuilding its included titles with modern graphics and redesigned mechanics, the collection preserves older editions that reflect how these adventures were experienced on their original platforms. Developed by Antstream Ltd and published by Revolution Software Ltd, the package brings together Lure of the Temptress, Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, and Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror. Taken together, they provide an interesting look at how Revolution's approach to storytelling, puzzle design, characters, and presentation developed throughout the 1990s. Lure of the Temptress is the most visibly aged game in the package, but its historical significance gives it plenty of character. It places the player in a fantasy setting filled with exploration, conversations, objects to manipulate, and environmental puzzles. One of its more interesting qualities is the attempt to make characters behave as inhabitants of the world rather than simply standing around waiting for the player. Modern audiences may find…2 found this helpful
Did anyone even test this before releasing? It freezes on Lure of the Temptress.
4 games, 4 mini-reviews for this recent, rather overshadowed collection: Lure of the Temptress Revolution's first game was a bit embryonic, but still fun, and comforting in an old-school way. A fantasy piece, the titular temptress barely figures as a character at all, and for most of the game you're wandering round the tiny village of Turnvale, talking to NPCs and gathering items and information. Although the place is small, the fact that the villagers are constantly wandering around in their own way gives it a lived-in feel, and stops things from being too static or claustrophobic. Despite the lack of music (except in a few cutscenes), I warmed to the location, and the slow, calming pace of gameplay. There are a couple of obtuse moments towards the end of the game, but if you look at the "Extras" section, you'll find some scans of pages from a walkthrough, taken from a magazine of the time. Add a dollop of Pratchett-esque British humour and you've got a short, but enjoyable, nostalgic experience. Beneath a Steel Sky Beneath a Steel Sky is a masterpiece, and I've said all I can say about it in my review on the standalone version of the game, which I recomme…
