You're a renowned hacker, the most notorious cyberspace thief in the corporate world. Caught during a risky break-in, you become indentured to Diego, a greedy Trioptium exec who bankrolls a rare cyberjack implant operation. After six months in a healing coma, you awaken to the twisted aftermath of a terrible disaster. Where are the surgeons? Why is the station in such disrepair? Slowly, the chilling realization that something is very wrong creeps over you.
Once a prime corporate research facility, Citadel now teems with mindless cyborgs, robots and terribly mutated beings, all programmed to serve SHODAN, a ruthless A.I. There's scarcely time to think before it unleashes the first terror...

Gameplay features:
- Rocket through cyberspace to steal information, hack security and grapple with watchdog defense programs enslaved to a maniacal computer.
- Survive battle after battle against armies of killer cyborgs and deadly robots as you collect hardware attachments, life-sustaining patches and deadly weapons to combat mindless mutants.
- Test your intelligence by solving puzzles, rewiring access panels and outwitting SHODAN in its own cyber-realm.

First playthrough review time. System Shock Enhanced is an updated version of an old first-person sci-fi game set inside a big space facility that has gone wrong. You wake up after a long time in a place that is not normal anymore, and most of what happened before is not shown directly. Instead, you slowly understand things by reading messages, hearing recordings, and checking different parts of the station. The story is there, but it is not pushed in your face, so you kind of piece it together as you move forward. The gameplay is in first-person and mostly about exploring, opening new paths, and dealing with enemies while keeping track of limited supplies. You spend a lot of time moving through connected decks, trying to figure out where to go next, and using whatever tools you find along the way. In conclusion, System Shock Enhanced keeps the same design as the original but makes it easier to control and approach. It focuses more on atmosphere, slow progress, and understanding through the environment rather than direct guidance. Even in this updated form, it still keeps its old structure and style intact.6 found this helpful
Has long standing issues that will never be fixed by the devs. This should be the definitive version of the game, but I struggle to recommend it over the original on dosbox, or the mac version sourceport.2 found this helpful
Head of Nightdive studio tweeted "Anyone who supports this monster deserves to go down with him" after assassination attempt.1 found this helpful
This game certainly aged and not always in best way. It misses some quality of life elements later games in the genre would implement. But it's still an immersive unique adventure with legacy spanning entire gaming industry. It's amazing that this game came out just year after DOOM and even before DOOM 2. Every person who loves immersive sims should play it. This game is a legend
One of the seminal works of looking glass, and remake is also good if you're a demented ♥♥♥♥ with neurosyphilis.
