About Biolab Wars

An alien lab experimenting on Earth? It's time to call the mercenary team on duty to sweep the invaders by firing, beating and bombing.
Inspired by the 8-bit games and by the movies from the 80's, your goal is to blow things up, defeat aliens and fight bizarre bosses in this platformer 2D with classic mechanics.
  • Finn, the bodybuilder, former Marine, former grill man and former television technician;
  • Becca, the deadliest and toughest girl on the planet;
  • Teddy, the armored dog (that's what you read), who suffered experiments in this alien lab and now wants revenge, or just find its owner.
  • Jack, another experiment in the alien laboratory, but this time with vegetables.
  • Classic 2D platformer mechanics;
  • 8-bits graphics and sounds;
  • 4 playable characters;
  • 4 weapon types for you to pierce the enemies;
  • Blow up the enemies with your frag grenade;
  • 7 stages with 3 levels each;
  • Epic Boss Fights!

Count on the help of power-ups, grenades and companions. But don't forget: you are the one man's army! HURRAH!

This game tries to be an old school run and gun but fails horribly due to the terrible level design. However this issue isn't a kind that gives frustration, it makes the game super easy,bland and boring. Literally every level is just couple of enemy types placed around randomly. There is no thought behind enemy placements at all,they are just there and creator doesn't do anything interesting with them. Boss fights are quite bland as well. They have one or two specific attacks and keep repeating those. I especially find the chicken boss's laser attack quite lame. It always shoots at the exact same place. Had like 100 mins in the game and already got all achievements. Achievements like "kill all enemies" is not fun nor anything skillful. Also you want people to beat the game with each character even though they all work exactly same? That's not good. So overall game has serious design issues and offer nothing interesting. Just a bland run and gun game.

I definitely have to recommend Biolab Wars! 2ndBoss managed to capture the look and feel of games like Contra, and just stuck to the basics. The gameplay is spot on, the visuals are fantastic and the soundtrack complements the on screen action perfectly. I had a blast playing through this and if you are a fan of run and gun games I'm sure you will too.

Bio Lab Wars is a $1 Contra clone. It's not bad either. Not many games can say they have a chicken that shoots lasers as a sub weapon.

Cool retro combat-focused platformer. I played thru the entire game in 2 hours with no issues. I loved the pixel art. The character moved well, level design was decent, and had some cool bosses. I liked that they updated it so that now you can shoot multiple directions, but they still give the option to play the original version which only allows you to shoot straight forward. Even though it is very short, it is definately worth the economical price tag. It has made me want to check out this developers other games.

So, this tries to be a Contra clone, but there are a couple issues with it. First, there's a time limit per level. This seems unneeded as it ruins the idea of strategy as you feel you need to rush the level. Second, ammunition is limited and requires pickups to main anything besides your base weapon, so you will run out if you do an auto fire type setup. Third, bullets can at times blend into the background; making bullets harder to miss than needed. This is painfully apparent in level 2. It's not that this is a horrid game, but there are better options out there.
